So what do you "think" or "want" as a end game objective like on minecraft it's the ender dragon.

For me I like to be more like indiana jones like, going into ruins, traps and find some kind of part of an item then if completed it, you need to find a place where to combine it (an altar maybe?) then you will unlock some stuff new stuff like a legendary armor or some kind of thing or an item or anything!!!

    What's yours? :3

I want a story wrapup for an endgame. Starbound is going to be tied together by a story, so I want the Chucklefish storytellers to end the story really well.

I don't know what the story is for Starbound, but hopefully at the end I will have saved the universe! (I hope it needs saving)

Hopefully after the ending you can still play side quests and explore, unlike fallout 3 when it started and rage.

If there will be an end like credits and title screen then PLEASE don't do something like the enderdragon: "Yay! I killed the drago-" the end.
Also, Minecraft end is not the enderdragon at all. Minecraft end is defeating a recolored enderdragon with dubstep-based intercontinental missiles while dressed like thor. Because that's what the devs are aiming for. Mods.

I'd be happy with a decent end to a nice main quest line. I would not complain about getting a unique weapon the like, but I'd also be happy with something to hang on the wall of my space ship or base.

Hmmm. I haven't given this any thought yet. I'd say if there were a conscious reason for your home planet's destruction, that would be the endgame goal. If not, i'd say it would be an awesome and ongoing idea for the planet's core (every planet) to be akin to endgame material. Not sure offhand how best to do that, but i would hate to see a mentality of "rush the core" be an eventuality. I'd like going to any core be a big deal and a great reason to go. At the same time it would be crappy if you started going from planet to planet just to tackle the core then move on.

Again, not sure how this would be accomplished, but it is what i would love to see.

I think they will just implement enough boss-like monsters on different planets to keep the people busy. It worked quit well in Terraria, and with the size of Starbound they will have more then enough places for special monsters, bosses and else. But to be honest, it´s a sandbox game. Sandbox games has no real end content, because it is sandbox.

In the end, make your own endgame content by setting yourself a goal that you want accomplish. Like to mine every single gold from all planets you can get to build yourself a golden city or a giant statue of yourself or well a giant representation of your.... ehem. The best ending clearly is universe-domination! You "own" all the planets and enslaved everyone and everything!
You shall not stop before you achieved that goal!

Anything else is just a filler ... C:

Also whats the other sandboxes goal like? That Life thingy?

I don't want an ending at all. I tend to stop games early because I think the end is coming. No, sandbox should be sandbox. Make your own definitions of endgame.

Once the main quest line is completed there should be no 'endgame' objectives besides exploring. At it's core Starbound is a sandbox game it would be silly to have a 'true' ending.

I hope endgame won't be as in Terraria. Once you had the best items, which could be done very fast with some friends, you did not have a reason to kill anything like bosses anymore. - The missing content problem (which is not a problem in "normal" games, if they had a satisfying length, but it is a huge problem for sandbox games because most people need some task in order to have fun).

I am a Gatherer. Building (unnecessary) monuments
didn't satisfy me in Terraria. xD I did NOT do THAT.

I would like to explore ancient and lost apex-races. Maybe in extremely rare ruins, finding cutting-edge technologies which need to be combined with other fragments. Or if there is genetic engineering, search for creatures and combine their best attributes (for whatever reason). Still hoping for implementation of shipyards where you can design your own ships - or at least buy extremely expenxive pre-assembled ones.

Maybe some PvP, people build up empires and try to conquer others (using pickaxes to destroy their bases..). Well no, that did not work in Terraria because there was no reason to do that.

My hope is that there will be a conclusion to the story, but the game itself will never truly end. With any luck, the developers can continue to add content and quests to the game long after it's completed. If they keep adding content, they can continue to add new conflicts and new resolutions, which is ideal. But it should only end when I decide to stop playing.

I don't see why Starbound should have a ending. To me, Starbound will never end with all the possibilities it has to offer. Maybe it will "end" the story with your character's goal being complete but not to everything else. Minecraft's ending was just a "...What?..." for me, I wouldn't want that to be the case for Starbound.

They are talking about the story line that is in the game. It will have a conclusion, but we do not even know what the story is about. Most likely we will not see this in alpha/beta since they need to keep somethings for the release.

An ending to the story, sure. But an ending to the actual game? Not interested. There is really no reason to have an ending, minecraft's ending was very lackluster and just felt rushed and forced into the game. It should have never had an ending to begin with. But that's just my opinion, and I don't want that to happen with Starbound. But the devs know what they're doing.
