RELEASED Elithian Races Mod - A Starbound Expansion 2.3.10

A Starbound expansion mod which adds multiple new races and additional content

I had a suggestion for your new race (excellent work on the mod so far, btw =3)

Could you make the eyes more in-line with Ningen/Cutebound/etc? I usually play with mods that have more detailed eyes, so it would throw me off a bit to not have some on yours. However, now that I think about it, my mod does have a "contact" item that might do the trick anyway.... Just a thought and keep up the awesome work!

    ChangelingRain Phantasmal Quasar

Oh, yup. Default windows unzipper ate those files, so now I know what the problem is and can fix it.

    Thank you.

EDIT: It does, in fact, work now.

Probably Cutebound may want to cuteify this mod soon or later, but by default, mods should imitate the vanilla style...

There's nothing vanilla about 1 pixel eyes, eyes range from 1 pixel to vary detailed depending on the character/race/cult/species
Having detailed eyes wouldn't hurt anything as far as I see. Like I mentioned, I can always patch them for personal use or use "contacts." It was just a suggestion =3

    No prob.

There are a few references to the deep desert. Would this be equivalent to the equatorial region of Arrakis in Frank Herbert's Dune? As an idea for possible planets in the new star type? Far harsher desert with far less animals and loose dunes. I know that this is also copying the ideas of Dune and the Fremen but should there be more water conservation items? if water is so precious should there be some modern avikan storage devices as well as sealed water skins. Sorry if I seem very pushy in my suggestions.

It's been a couple of years since I read Dune (and I never finished the series, unfortunately), so the details of Arrakis' geology are starting to fade for me, but I think that's pretty good comparison. The deep desert is an area on Kadavan that is largely dunes for thousands of kilometers, and the region is almost continuously ravaged by sandstorms. I had plans to add a new 'Desert Wastelands' planet type later down the line, but haven't worked on it in a while: perhaps it's time to add it to the TO-DO list again!

There's a few water container items in the mod (two types of metal water containers, and a leather water sack), but I agree a few more of those items would be good. Water isn't quite as precious as it used to be - the exodus from Kadavan meant that the Avikan could more easily gather water from planets their fleet passes - but some more of those items definitely wouldn't hurt.

Hey Aegonian, if I use an Avian/Trinkian colony deed, do they only summon Avikan/Trinkian tenants? Even if the room is full of, say, Hylotl furniture and not Avikan/Trinkian furniture?

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

No, you'll still need to fill the homes with Avikan or Trinkian furniture to get Avikan or Trinkian tenants. The themed colony deeds don't currently have a racial tag, but that's an oversight which will be fixed in the upcoming update. Even with those tags, however, placing down Hylotl furniture could still attract a Hylotl tenant, since the Elithian and vanilla villager tenants all share the same priority level.

Exactly what I needed to know! I wanted to use the Avikan deed because the vanilla one is a bit out of place in my Hylotl palace. Thank you!

Mod is looking even more awesome! Haven't play-tested this newest reiteration, but did notice one thing that may or may not be an issue at launch in the log:

16:43:32.982] [Error] Could not apply patch from file /npcs/friendlyguard.npctype.patch in source: ..\mods\avikan. Caused by: (JsonPatchException) Could not apply patch to base. (JsonPatchException) Could not apply operation to base. (TraversalException) Tried to get key 'avikan' in non-object type in pathApply("/scriptConfig/dialog/hail/avikan")

    Seems clean-loading other than that!
(though I'm also getting this exact same error from the Phantasm race's mod folder)

Hmm, haven't seen that one in my own logs before, but it's worth investigating! I'll have a look at those files soon to see if I can find the cause!

Don't worry about it too much. Entirely possible one of my too-many-mods is at cause. If you can't find it without other mods or FU, probably not worth worrying over.

The new weapons are pretty cool, I like the new longbow best :). But I did find a small issue. The Wrath of Rhadeis collection entry didn't unlock correctly for me. Here is a screenshot: [IMG]

How's your progress on the new race?
I mean, since I've seen the Aegonian emissary at the Starfleet Refugee, i can't wait to play them!

Please, give us some updates, and maybe some spoilers?

I know I seem obsessed with this water containers but for possible additions a leather bag made from sandspitters sack? with small bone plug around opening to close off the skin. making it similar to wine skins and similar water storage. possibly as cosmetic item carried by those avikan wanderers around tents? e.g. [IMG] or
    [IMG]
Also are there any rite of passage rituals that can be included in lore? I thought that maybe hunting a sandspitter and returning with its sack among other parts and crafting from that a quality waterskin could be something similar. "Water isn't quite as precious as it used to be - the exodus from Kadavan meant that the Avikan could more easily gather water from planets their fleet passes" but in a traditional sense there still might be a few old skins carried around for sentimental value or shows of merit.

I haven't done much work on the Aegi lately - I've been mostly focused on the fixes and improvements introduced by the latest update - but I'm switching my focus from bug-fixing to developing the new race now. I might release a small hotfix update to fix a few small issues that remain in v2.2.2, but otherwise, the next update is planned to include the Aegi as a playable race!

Here's a little teaser for some of the content coming for the Aegi in the next big update:
This is a test build I did for modular Aeginian homes, which you'll find in nearly every Aeginian colony. They are small homes made of modular pieces that are usually flown in using special spaceships, allowing the Aegi to set up a functional colony in less than a day. In addition to these modular homes, the colonies usually feature some larger, more permanent structures too, but I haven't built any test builds for those yet. I'll update you when I have a screenshot available for those!

The screenshot also shows some of the Aeginian furniture, and my character is holding one of the many Alliance weapons that will be added in the next bug update. I already have 11 Alliance assault rifles, 4 pistols, 2 rocket launchers, 6 shotguns, 1 submachine gun, 7 sniper rifles, 1 grenade launcher, 1 machine gun and a minigun ready and implemented! Alliance weapons come from various manufacturers, all of whom have their own style of design and preferred play style: Advanced Aeginian Engineering (AAE) has mostly weapons with a high rate of fire, while the Alliance Collective produces weapons built for accuracy, and Theledos, a Hymidian manufacturer, produces weapons firing explosive plasma bolts. There are also multiple manufacters for vehicles, household equipment and more - there is a lot of lore behind the Aegi and the Alliance as a whole!

I'll add more water containers and a handheld waterskin to the TO-DO list, fully agree that those would be nice to have! Perhaps I can even make the waterskin a refillable healing item, but no guarantees! As for rites of passage, I haven't documented any yet, but the Avikan definitely have them! I'll add writing those out to the TO-DO list as well. Avikan culture is full of tradition - which is why there are still so many tents and bone weapons in their society, despite them having access to modern equipment now - so I'm all for adding more items and objects to reinforce that type of culture!

Also, how do I get more quests after the first set?
