A Starbound expansion mod which adds multiple new races and additional content

That's fair enough, may be a good idea to contact the original creators of the other races and see if they would be willing to help with the lore sections?

Also I might have a go at drawing my avikan starbound character, wish me luck

    avikan themed Space stations?

  3. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

Yeah, I've had some more contact with the original creators of the other races lately, and some of them are already working on updated lore for their races. Also, good luck! I'd love to see your character when you're done! :nuruawe:

Those are definitely on the TO-DO list!

_20170630_181028.JPG just a quick sketch of my Avikan Zavaan, the wings and bits need clearing up but I thought I'd show him off. See what people think.

Oh and if your not already on it, you may want to join the starbound community discord, might help with speeding up the creation process?

I like your sketch so far!

I'm actually on the Starbound Discord (the offical one, and also Starbound Ahoy) already, though I'm not very active on there. There's also an Elithian Alliance Discord, by the way! If you'd like to join it, you can do so using this link.

Yeah, I plan on adding some full-body armour for the Avikan later! I had refrained from doing so before since I wasn't sure how it would work with their tails and flaps, but some people from the community made some suggestions recently, and I think I have a decent idea of how to pull it off now.

Thanks for the link to Item Frame mod! I think that'll help me get started on the weapon displays!

I had an idea with regards to lore, maybe play with the idea of the Centensians messing with/experimenting with starbound precursor tech, trying to integrate it's power into their existing tech systems? Possibility of having racial quests which involve players imbuing an Elithian weapon with precursor tech, therefore allowing you to utilise the precursor anvil and the ancient vaults within a story element, further tying the mod into the SB universe?

Oh and here is the fruit of mine labours, behold Zavaan in all his monochrome glory haha _20170701_012619.JPG

Are there any plans for a compatibility patch between the Elithian Races mechs and the XS Modular Mechs mod?

This mod is really nice. Any little spoiler about the next races so far?
EDIT: Oh well. Anyone willing to give me a recap about said "spoilers"?

What sort of issues are you running into with both mods installed? Is it causing a crash or trouble with the mech's functionality, or are the legs just looking wonky?

The most recent spoiler concerning new races was posted a few pages back:

This is the first screenshot of the next playable race, the Aegi. They are the only truly humanoid race of the bunch, and while their appearance isn't the most exotic, they have the most detailed background lore of all races, and are my favourite race (which you could probably tell by my username). They'll be more than just humans with a different skin, as they have their own selection of hairstyles (20 per gender so far), unique skin and hair colours, ear size customization, and custom starter clothes, too. You can also see their custom ship pet in the screenshot!

It's noting crashing, it's just that any legs added by mods that aren't patched look really weird, because XS raises the skeleton of the mech a bit.

They do have a good potential! I think they are similar to how humans are portrayed in Jak II and III (I don't know if you have ever played Jak & Daxter)...?

    ChangelingRain Phantasmal Quasar

  15. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

I'll add it to the list! Since it doesn't actually impact functionality, it's not a very high priority right now, but I'll try to get a patch out sometime.

I haven't ever actually played the Jak and Daxter games, but the original concept for the Aegi were partially inspired by Jak's appearance (seen him in plenty of coverart and such). I even used the Jak costume in LittleBigPlanet back when I made a few Elithian creations in that game :p

According to the log, there are no default codexes set for the Avikan and the Trink... Are you sure you are using the latest version of the mod, and have updated by completely uninstalling the previous version before installing the new one? The default codex entries are properly configured in the mod, but something on your end caused the entries to get deleted or corrupted somehow. I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the mod. If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may have a mod installed that completely overwrites the player.config. Did you install any new mods recently?

Ha, Cool! I used to play LBP too :)

Btw, Jak & Daxter Humans are basically cyberpunk fae-people (one may argue they are like elves but many times they are closer to gnomes in appearance). In the first game they were in close contact with magic (Echo), and were a defenseless minority. Later, their concept became darker and if they're not oppressed, they're rogues.

If your race is similarly cyberpunk-ish, I'll probably use it for my next character if it comes out in time... Otherwise, it's still definitely worth checking out :)

    Keep it up!

Legs just look wonky, as Toa pointed out:
Take your time, I've been preferring Elithian Races over XS Modular Mechs anyway. Having a fix for the meat chunk soon would be nice though.

  18. ChangelingRain

    ChangelingRain Phantasmal Quasar

I did install three new mods recently, http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=860140460 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=861624670 and http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=957401664 but removing them hasn't fixed the issue; this is my log after removing those three recently installed mods http://puu.sh/wzt7u/4afd150b1a.log

I don't know which mods recently updated, though, so it might be, and probably is, an older mod that has recently updated.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be the avali, which would suck if correct.

  19. Virdex_

    Virdex_ Void-Bound Voyager

I use both Avali Triage and Elithian Races, and the game runs fine...

  20. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

Did anything about your local installation of Elithian Races change recently? I just noticed another line in the log:
[Info] Root: Detected unnamed asset source at '..\mods\avikan'
Which should have been (pulled from ym own Starbound.log):
[Info] Root: Detected asset source named 'Elithian_Races_Mod' at '..\mods\avikan'
This suggests that the mod's metadata file (in which the mod's name is defined) isn't loading correctly. I've seen a similar issue in a log from another mod user some time ago, and for them, the issue was caused by the program they used to unzip the mod's assets. That unzipping program correctly unzipped all of the folders within the 'avikan' folder, but it left out all of the files directly inside the 'avikan' folder. These files included the metadata and player.config files, which could also explain why your game can't read the default codex entries.

Can you open your unzipped 'avikan' folder, and check if there are a metadata and player.config.patch file in there? It could be that player.config.patch is called player.config if you your PC is configured to hide file extensions.

If these files are present, then I'm convinced that there's a different mod causing incompatibilities, and I'll try to figure out which one it could be. If the files are indeed missing, try using another unzipper (winRAR always works for me), and unzip and reinstall the mod again.
