  1. SJLgamers

    SJLgamers Subatomic Cosmonaut

    Desert planets.

  2. GriffenLeo

    GriffenLeo Scruffy Nerf-Herder

My brother and I love this mod so much! but when we attempt to visit any desert world, we just teleport right back to where we were. any ideas?

  3. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

Desert planets are one of the possible locations to find these, but they can be found in many more places. The full list of planet types is as follows: forest, desert, savannah(arid), snow, jungle, alien, tundra(frozen), volcanic, midnight and scorched. You'll find them as random encounters, and there can be multiple of them on the same planet. Unlike in the previous versions of this mod, they can no be found alongside other dungeons as well.

Could you send me your starbound.log? I've had this happen to me a few times during testing as well, but I'm not sure if it's being caused by the same core issue in your case. If I recall correctly, my log mentioned a unique entity ID being used twice, which occurs whenever the game tries to place two Avikan Colonies on the same planet. I haven't yet been able to find a solution to this, but I'm still trying to find a way to fix it.

In my case, this only happened on select planets, so moving to a new desert planet should hopefully allow you to beam down to that one. If it happens on all desert planets for you, it's likely to be an issue I haven't encountered before - I'll need the log to investigate further, though.

Are the trinkian sonic cannons craftables or a structure I can find?

  5. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

Trinkian Sonic Cannons are weapon available to the Trinks, but as an Avikan (or any other species) there's a few other ways to get them as well. For both of the following methods, you will need to find a Trinkian settlement, or a random encounter.

First, the sonic cannons are rare drops inside any Trinkian container/chest. These chests are quite plentiful in Trinkian settlements, so despite their low drop rate you should be able to find one before too long.

The other method is to obtain a Trinkian crafting guide, which allows you to learn all Trinkian crafting recipes. You''ll find a Trinkian Crafter NPC in Trinkian settlements who offers a quest (called 'Trinkian Craftsmanship') which rewards you with this crafting guide upon completion.

When I try to load my game, an error pops up saying it can't load avikansoldier.npctype type. Should I delete the file, or is there another way to fix this?

  7. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

Could you send me your full starbound.log? It might contain a few more details as to what went wrong exactly.

  8. GriffenLeo

    GriffenLeo Scruffy Nerf-Herder

alright thanks. I had this happen on multiple occasions, so much so that it would not let me launch. It kept saying something along the lines of "duplicate file" or something on multiple files such as the keff, avikan tribe/village people, and other weapons so I figured that re-installing it would work instead and it did. Don't ask me why though. To be honest I'm kind of a noob and not really sure what or where is my "starbound.log" or how to get to it, sorry. thanks again and I'll tell you any kind of news on my end. -G

P.S.-- I want to know if you made up all these races or not. If so, that's really impressive. If not, can you tell me what they are from?

  9. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

Hmm, did you upgrade from a previous version of this mod or install it fresh? I could imagine that something like this might happen if you overwrite a previous version instead of doing a clean install, but you never really know with these kind of things. Good to know the issue's been resolved, though!

The majority of these races are my original creations, but a few were thought of by others (and they gave me permission to use those races in the mod). All races in this mod originate from an online roleplay I created a few years back, the Elithian Alliance Roleplay (hence the mod's name). In that roleplay, people could create their own races and interstellar civilizations, and that's where these races were created. While there were probably a couple dozen people who joined the roleplay over the years, there was a small 'core' group responsible for most of the content, and who stuck around the longest. The races in this mod were all created by that core group.

The Avikan are one of my original creations (along with the Droden), while the Trink were created by another member. Of all the races in the banner (including the obscured ones), a total of six are my creations, two are from the member who created the Trink, and the other two races were created by two other members.

Ok i have to ask, how does one use the gifts from the avikan?

  12. Kv1

    Kv1 Scruffy Nerf-Herder

How can I get an Avikan keff? I've bought a controller from the star farer refuge but it seems not working

  13. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

The gifts can't be used, but you can trade them in at the Starfarer's Refuge (at the material exchange merchatn next to the teleporter shop). They're worth 5 Tokens of Merit each, and those tokens can be used to purchase other items (including a very potent weapon if you manage to collect 1000 of them). You'llalso need a few of these Avikan Gifts in the quest that gets you a Keff, so if you haven't completed that one yet, I'd suggest holding on to them for the moment.

The Keff can be obtained by completing the 'Keffrider' questline. In order to get that quest, you have to build an Avikan-themed home with at least one combat-oriented object (such as a spear rack) and a static Keff (the placeable object) in it. Place a colony deed, and you should now have summoned a Keffrider tenant. He/she will give you the quest that eventually rewards you with a Keff. I'll see if I can make this process a little less complicated in a future update.

The vehicle shop in the Starfarer's Refuge sells a few items which you'll need to complete the Keffrider questline - you probably picked up a transmitter or a jumpgate core from it. The actual Keff controller has a unique tooltip showing the vehicle and everything - you'll know it when you see it. Once the Keffrider quest has been completed, the shop will also sells Keffs directly - including a unique, faster version.

ah ok thanks. i was about to try to refine them lol. and thanks about the quest info ill be sure to look into that

so i have an avian vehicle jump gate and a jump gate controller. now my question is how do i use them?
i got them using admin mode because i really wanted to test it out, looks badass

  16. Aegonian

    Aegonian Weight of the Sky

The Avikan Vehicle Jumpgate is simply a decorative object, the idea being that it explains where the vehicle you spawn with a controller comes from. The object has no uses besides decoration, though. The Jumpgate Controller is a quest item, used in the final quest to obtain the actual vehicle controller - it turns into the actual vehicle controller at the end of that quest.

To spawn the actual vehicle controller, spawn either of these items using admin commands: avikankeffcontroller or avikanlightkeffcontroller - these are the actual vehicles. The first one spawns a regular Keff, the second spawns a Blink Keff, which is faster and more agile, but also more fragile. Hope that helps!

Loving the new additions to this mod, both Trinks and Droden are awesome and I like how Trinks have a WHOLE shebang of items, weapons, objects and gear of their own.

Here's a but however: Where's Avikan and Trink mechs? Well, since I'm impatient I just re-painted and made Avikan Editon of the Elite Sigma Mech with its own config files, separate from the original/default mech from the XS Mechs mod:

Also I felt that the Trink combat armor should protect the eyes of a Trink too, Combat Engineer?:

I actually hadn't really thought about Avikan and Trink-themed mechs yet, but that's a great idea! It's been added to my TO-DO list - it might be a while before they get added, but I'll definitely try to implement them at some point!
