Dunno how well this would translate in-game but what is there were elements bound to specific creatures/weapons/armor/mechs/penguins/toaster ovens based on what they are made from/ where they live? For example, many creatures from a lava planet would be fire elemental creatures, and would resist damage from fire weapons, deal fire damage, and be weak to water damage. Same applies to weapons and armor. If you upgrade or enhance a weapon or piece of armor with fire resistance/damage you would take less fire damage or the weapon would deal fire damage. Just an idea I had so let me know what u thinkz. :)

I would actually really enjoy a basic element system.

    Simpler would be better though.

i think it's a pretty good idea, just simplify it and break it down into tiers of defense
when it comes to defenses, all creatures, npcs and you(the player) all have different defense amounts depending on armor, gear, and what race etc. a creature is

a quick set of defenses could be as follows below

    - physical defense = X > a general amount of defense against any melee attacks or being shot
    - blunt defense = X > defense vs maces and hammers etc.
    - pierce defense = X > defense vs spears, rapiers, and other "pokey" type weapons
    - slash defense = X > defense vs slashing weapons like most straight swords etc.

    - fire defense = X > self explanatory

    - electric/lightning defense = X self explanatory

    - " insert whatever other types of elemental attacks and such there are, here"

so generally a "hell fire bat" or something would deal mostly fire damage and be resistant towards nearly all fire attacks but weak to water and ice

the same could be said about an "electric wyvern" or something, and it'd be weak to...ummm.. maybe fire? or wind type attacks? i don't what lightning is "weak" to d:

i think armor and gear should have more stats then just "defense" and a name to it
one set can be great vs fire but weak to most physical attacks and so on

  5. 1.1

    1.1 Big Damn Hero

lightning is weak to ground sorry, this isnt pokemon

if there is like darkness as an element it should be weak to your flashlight! blind it then kill it with a fighting or bug type

This sort of thing isn't what I want. Simple resistances to certain types is fine... all this complex stuff is not. Dungeons of Dredmor is something that implemented this, and did anyone ever actually pay attention to what sort of damage/resistances they had? I thought not.

If it were just small stuff like accessories/armor to make you take less damage from fire attacks/electricity then that sort of thing sounds fun.

Exactly what I was going for, adding to armor to reduce the effects of elemental damage, and adding to weapons to make the weapon do elemental damage. (or even elemental ammo instead of adding to the weapon itself)

Who put the last option in the poll? that was a joke.
