Elemental Weapon Effects

I've discovered something really strange with the elemental weapons. Namely, if I swing a weapon with an elemental effect using left-click, it has the effect the game says it has. However, when I swing it with right-click (either because it's a two-handed weapon or I assigned it to RMB ), it has a different effect. Even stranger, it seems to be a cyclical thing. A fire weapon has poison as it's secondary, a poison weapon has electricity, and electricity has fire.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Also, I'm wondering if this was intentional, and if it's not, could it maybe stick around for special rare weapons?

 

yup...been around since i started playing around x-mas.

 

It's not always cyclic. I currently have a lightning 1h sword that has poison in right hand. Also I've had a few weapons that have had the same element for both.
