Eggshoot Replacement

So, from what I can tell, Eggshoot was meant to be a substitute for Eggs back when there was no reliable way to get them. Now that we have the Outpost to buy Eggs at, it seems kinda pointless, IMHO, to have Eggshoot in the game. So my suggestion is that Eggshoot be replaced.

It wouldn't require a terribly drastic modification to the game; just swap out all the textures, text, etc to "transform" any existing Eggshoot into this new crop. Since Eggshoot can presently be found on Ice worlds, why not make it something cold... Perhaps some sort of mint? I can think of some neat recipes with that; Candy Canes, Mint Ice Cream, Minty Chocolate... Or maybe something more creative like "Shiverburn" (Mint+Chili).

 

I kinda liked Eggshoot... At this point, it seems to be something that's actually in the Starbound universe, rather than a replacement for eggs. Having mint as an ingredient however, seems like a very good idea.

 

I think something needs to be done with eggshoot since currently nothing seems to use it. if it's staying, they need to add some recepies that actually use it. Otherwise, yes, remove and replace with something else, mint would be nice. So would ginger, or some more non-earth crops even.

 

I agree, either make eggshoot used for something or replace it.

If the developers do keep eggshoot, here's some ideas for eggshoot recipes:
Vegan custard: (would look like a plate of custard with leaves on it) description: "a tasty custard with eggshoot instead of eggs" eggshoot+sugar
Yolk salad: (would look like a salad with yellow yolk drizzled on it) description: "eggshoot yolk makes a great dressing!" eggshoot+carrot+tomato (you know, for all the salad recipes there really should be some sort of leafy green crop)
Vegetarian meal: (would look like a meat patty with fried eggs on the side) description: "a patty made from pussplum and boneboo with some fried eggshoot. yes, it IS vegetarian" eggshoot+pussplum+boneboo

 

It's funny that there's no recipes for eggshoot, because the Hylotl character's N-key examinations mention that Boneboo and Eggshoot are used for vegetarian dishes among Hylotl.

I suggest keeping Eggshoot and giving it some recipes.

 

It would be more interesting if Chucklefish added the capability to make recipes with alternative ingredients, so any recipe using Eggs can use Eggshoot instead.

 

This somewhat exists currently - for example there's two recipes for Glass Blocks, one that uses normal Sand, and the other using Fine Sand. I wouldn't mind seeing alternate recipes for egg-containing dishes that utilize eggshoot in place of eggs.

 

Well, that is true, but that is two recipes, while I desire CF to add a lot more possibilities to recipe coding in general.

So I'm guessing that Eggshoot Salad was replaced with Egg Salad, then?

 

Eggshoot Salad still exists in the game's files, but the recipe is currently unobtainable and the item itself has no effects beyond the well fed debuff. It may be obtainable from chef NPCs from spawners, as many similarly-disabled food items are.

There is currently no egg-based equivalent.
