So me and my friend were playing on a private server, on a new Delta planet, when he got the idea to buy about 150-ish of this newly discovered defense turret. Not knowing how powerful they were, we decided to create a pixel farm suspended in the air utilizing 2 turrets and a platform of sand. After attracting a bird, we quickly discovered how weak these things were, doing 6 damage per shot. Unsatisfied with this, i started making more rows, slowly getting wider at the bottom, until I had a massive "cake" of turrets. Upon activation, i discovered that all of these turrets did massive damage together, killing many of the frequent bird monsters that appeared. Then I remembered the pixels, and how there were so few farming techniques available. Then I decided to share this with all of you, so you all may enjoy the riches earned from the turret cake. Pics: The basic design; make the number of blocks per row even, to fit more turrets, unlike this prototype All this turret fire will wear them out, so make sure you do proper maintenance Always have a platform below for easy collection The nice thing about this design is that it's cheap (1 pixel per turret, the blocks you can find anywhere), yet yields a ton of pixels when constructed correctly Please experiment with this and make it known. I would love to hear modifications that make it more efficient, and more profitable *please note that this will only work if suspended in the air
the current spawning dynamics are that they appear outside the players' window in clumps on a suitable terrain type. i found when i altered my zoom manually in the config file (for massive building and screenshot operations), that this seemed to increase the bubble and the amount of birds. so, theoretical improvements: 1. zoom as far out as your comfortable playing 2. make your cake into a lattice of wooden platforms that birds can fly through and are a jump height apart. this way you can run and jump and cover a couple of "air screens" and make spawns happen outside
