I watched that movie 2 times, if it's the one with Diesel as Riddick... well... 'Course there're monsters, that are only present in the pitch black night of this planet. I know where you want to head with your statement, but I can't agree. There are no monsters at daytime, simply meaning that lifeforms of that planet adapted to their surroundings. That said, the "beasts" in that movie don't come forth when a rare occasion happens, but every night (which don't happen regulary). I don't want to spoil the idea, but stronger mobs that only spawn at pitch black nights / eclipses should also spawn in deeper layers, where no light is. By your statement that would be the only reason, a special monster spawns: An eclipse (the loss of light). It just doesn't feel right. In Terraria the Blood Moon had no real explanation, but it didn't have to as the lore of Terraria was, if at all existent, not sci-fi but magic as well. I hope you get my point. As said: I like the idea, but there has to be something that explains special mobs in any "plausible" way.
There is another post of mine on a thread about permanent day/night that you need to read. I want my character to have a shine job on his eyes...
So, probably on elipces, your eyes will glow? and all creatures will glow in the dark aahahahahaha me gusta
I like this idea. But as pointed out, a problem would spawn with the whole "a planet would have more than 1 moon" thing. It wouldn't make sense for them to both be eclipsed at the same time, unless they had someone reached the same point and eclipsed the same sun--since there is only one sun in a system. But otherwise I support this suggestion, upvoted.
Ok,I'll Make a short story about it When the eclipse hits your earth many creature come from the moon's and suns alignment due to the temprature surrounding them Summoning evil creatures such as a sun demon or a moon monster.
I hope this gets more conversation, i see it as lost now. and i want to get to 20. So i hope someone can talk about it.
Unfortunately that's the way the suggestions area works - it only shows the top voted ones and the new ones. The only way people can see the ones in the middle is if they're actively being posted on and the person looking is using the forums. That's why the top suggestions are the same suggestions that have been there since the start.
Right... or you added the thread to your... thingy... feed? What else is there to say about eclipses?
So, how long would you think eclipses last? about 3 minutes or so? not as long as the bloodmoon though, because it's not really a night, it can happen at anytime!
To add on to the conversation, I understand that if monsters come out during a rare night then that means they'll already be living underground right? Well maybe we can make it that specific planets have it so it is almost impossible to travel underground due to 100s of creatures in large open caves that shred you apart the moment you go below. When it gets dark, you are forced to fight the creatures but won't be instant death. I hope people understand what I meant! lol
i dont going to read nothing of this just to tell you something they have surely tell you before, eclipses dont ocur at ramdon, you coul even say when its going to happen soo you can decide to run to your ship to be safe, or stay to get the rare lot from the special creatures o3o
Whether or not eclipses cause stronger monsters or better items, I think it's a cool idea to base them off a simulation of movements of the objects in the sky. It would be awesome if the game was programmed to literally simulate how bright the sun is based on the things you can see, since the game already has stuff in the sky in the background. And you could watch the eclipse happen which would be a neat unexpected event.
I think there will be a big chance for something like this. Allso this kind of reminds me of terraria did you get the idea from there?
