    Sounds difficult, luckily it isn't that hard here ;P

    I randomly decided to try things.
    FeedMeSeymour and AudreyII and LittleShopOfHorrors did not work. Lol... I dunno... Seemed like a good idea at first. :(

    Guessing won't get us anywhere, don't bother.

    If everyone does a lot of "guessing" (it's not guessing, because we are using references to starbound, narrowing the amount of possibilities A LOT, thus it is educated guessing), then we have a decent chance of actually finding an easter egg that way.

    Because we have such a long list of CLUES with which to aid us in formulating possible solutions.

    Even just using Starbound references for guessing, there's still so many possibilities that guessing is pointless. That's assuming the remaining Easter Eggs are active at this point, which they may not be. Plus the last one, IronEagle, has nothing to do with Starbound, it's just bird-related. That opens up so many more possibilities that I don't think the entire population of the forum could even count them (much less try them all) if they spent the rest of their lives trying to.

    Guessing is a waste of time guys, wait for the next clue.

    I agree that guessing like that person did IS pointless, but thinking about possibilities for eastereggs, like references to apes in culture and folklore, as well as puns and stuff, for example, is quite cool.

    Cool, but there is an uncountable amount of jokes about birds, apes, humans (in particular humans), robots, fishes and plants. Unless you know exactly which folklore, culture or kind of humor to guess in, guessing has a 1/1000000000000000000 chance of being right. Add to that the fact that we don't know if every word in the pun is capitalized or not, guessing is a real waste of time.

    Unless of course, you like wasting the time. Since, you know, "Time enjoyed wasting, is not wasted".

    Um, well we can get an idea of what kind of thing we might be expecting by digging into culture (which is fun and educating, therefore not a waste of time by any means). Also, I am not actually guessing words, just pondering on what they might be. Note: I think we have basically confirmed that each one will have ThisFormat, unless the devs mega-troll us.
    Another note: I just thought of something. I think that the easter egg clues will be done in such a way, that they will be spaced fairly evenly from the time of the first one to when devs are thinking they might get the game released. (It's just a possibility, I know :p). If this was the case, then once we get the third hint, we can see if the distances of time between when the first two were hinted at is equal to or approx = to the distance of time between the second and third clue. If this is the case, we an predict when the next few clues will be released, and then after what is probably the last one, the game might be released. Of course, this might just be a load of nonsense, but maybe, just maybe, we'll get an idea of when the devs are aiming to get this game ready ;).

  10. Not really. Luna is right - you won't get anywhere by guessing.

    Consider any possible 4 letter code. Assuming that this is only lower case letters (that means no capital letters, no number and no punctuation)
    That leaves 26^4 = 456976 possible combinations to try
    If we assume a generous (and constant over the whole period) rate of 100 distinct attempts per hour, that equates to 190 days to try all possible permutations of this.

    Even altering this slightly will drastically increase the time. For example - if we now consider the code to be case sensetive, it will now take ~1300 days to attempt all permutations at the same rate

    Needless to say, accounting for things like special characters will increase this by orders of magnitude - even with a very generous estimate it is still a totally unreasonable timeframe (think about it, the known easter egg is 13 characters long - even with 1 million guesses per hour this would take over 100 million millenia to guess all possible combinations).

    No... because
    We know that it will be an actual thing, using real words, using ThisFormat, and we can use EDUCATED guesses to figure it out. It's not like anyone is going to try *aiupUBFp-9gyqegq and then eqp98tqgn[ are they.
    Also, there is a second easter egg, IronEagle ;)

    The thing about guessing is, does it make a difference? I mean, I think it's great to start the character gen every now and again and just plug things into it, there is no harm to the rest of us.
    And you never know, maybe someone will get lucky.

    We should all be grateful they're not pulling a potato arg, and so should the Don't starve people.
    I mean just read this (This Secret was found in Super Meat Boy) "The Cave Johnson Help Wanted Poster and Obtaining the Audio Transmission
    The levels contain the code (instructions and images are below) 3131B95073 which if entered into google as "3131 B 95073" leads to The Couch Potato Discount Sofa Warehouse
    IRC user Scorkpian(Thisisntjon) and his lovely wife let irc talk them into checking out to the Couch Potato Discount Furniture Warehouse where they found a Cave Johnson Poster and a surprise visitor bearing a copy of SMB"
    The ENTIRE ARG was to show the release of Portal 2.

    That really puts the scope on what we've been accomplishing here.

    So I just looked on wikipedia for things related to Ape, Monkey, Plant, squid etc. Found nothing, although it turns out Floran is the name of a Romanian village.
    Better keep searching for clues...

    Unuseful data:

    if ( config.extraArmorColor != null && currentSettings.helmetOption != currentSettings.helmetOptionMax )
    {
    helmetArmorSheet = imageInfo["extra-helmet"];
    helmetMaskSheet = imageInfo["extra-mask"];
    }

    Later...

    Settings.prototype.setName = function( name )
    {
    if ( this.name === name )
    return;

    this.name = name;

    $.getJSON( "images/sheets/" + toHash( name ) + "/data.json", function ( data ) { currentSettings.checkName( data ); } );
    };

    All I can find in my quick look at the source code.
