Earthquakes! That would be cool for an explosion or even a real earthquake. Such as an exploding volcano as a background, and a tremor that occurs during and stones falling in flames...

It could work, shaking the screen, causing trees to fall, water to jiggle, and cracks appearing in the ground. It would add some randomness to the game
I think that Earthquakes (Would the name of the quake change depending on the planet like Roxicoricophallapitoriusquake? I don't know but that's besides the point) is a great idea-however I have a problem with imagining a volcano on a planet, would they push it into the background and have magma come out of crevices and falling lava rock from the sky or would they have a huge generated mountain that you'd have to go over-either way I see it more of an overly complicated inconvenience for the developers to create and would rather annoy people than give an awesome feeling-other than that I like the Earthquake idea though.
I love the idea of earthquakes and other natural disasters in the game. Could really liven up regular play with a surprise tremor.
How would a quake work when you can only move left and right? Not to mention the world is blocks. Would giant holes open up letting you fall sraight to the planet core? Other than randomness, I see no real point to this idea, nor an ideal way to implement. Downvote till proved otherwise.
It would be incredibly frustrating. But then again, so are creepers in Minecraft, and creepers have destroyed plenty of houses. Bring on the earthquakes! Though I do think it should be a toggle at the beginning of the game. Some people just like to build unopposed.
Not enough Alien Weathers! From where I stand, I would endorse this idea. Falling Rocks during eruptions, water evaporating and earth drying up during high temperatures, Earthquakes collapsing several tunnels (caused by turning dirt and cobblestone into sand and/or gravel), many of which might or might not be caused by the player's actions or naturally, while also depending on the Biome and/or Underground Depth. In the latter case, it would basically make the Planet's core off-limits due to these Game Mechanic. And combined with that new "Melting" state that comes from Lava, it would make nature even more dangerous! And for those that wouldn't want this, simply do not try to make a house in an otherwise hostile environment (as labeled by the Star map, such as the Snowlands or Deserts). Tame Nature, or it will bite you back! I honestly think that the Tentacle Planets need to be more of a living entity, too. Not just there as a nice aesthetic. And really, all worlds are very same-ish without more Alien Weathers. Rain is pretty much the only thing happening in most environments. Not even Spores that could affect the health of others in a Mushroom Biome, or Blizzards that can affect homes without proper construction (especially those without Background walls covering any holes or the proper Materials that can keep warmth in). Given that this is an Early Beta phase, these things should be addressed before the final release. Since we are visiting many uncharted Alien Worlds, there should be a lot more than any similarities that we can find on Planet Earth.
Things such as this would not occur on a normal planet if implemented. Dangerous planets that are mostly uninhabitable may have this sort of factor, as a potential possibility. I'd find this interesting and on a volcanic world I'd even expect this...(hey if your building on a volcanic plane you could you know at least expect an eruption...) think Jupiter's moon Io, its always erupting...
I agree with some of the comments here. "No my beautiful home" could be avoided by not building your home on an earthquake prone planet. Hard to say what the real benefit would be though. Surprise? Danger? Would there be rewards like new ores uncovered by the earthquake?
Maybe it should be depended on planet, just like meteor storm ! (or players messing around with planet core)
