Hmm, okay this is scientifcly justified, but I have at least on pal who is colour blind and this feature would complicate things even more than they alredy are. Besides that I think I would also create communication problems within a party when one says " mine the ore there", "which one?" "the blue one.", "THERE IS NO BLUE ONE!"
I see a lot of people who missed that this would be an optional part of the game, more for fun than anything else, but a setting none the less that could be turned on or off...So for all of you who are automatically rejecting the idea because it will make things more complicated in specific circumstances, I'd like you to read the proposal more closely...
On the note of "read the proposal more closely", Qshadow, I've already specifically stated that this does not affect the colours of blocks. They might appear differently under a different flashlight, but two players looking at something using their own race's flashlight would both see that thing in the same colour. A blue ore will appear blue to all races. I know, I've already done so much work justifying how light works, so it seems like I'm contradicting myself by saying that everything else will look exactly the same to all races. That's just a necessary compromise. I want the idea to be scientifically feasible AND fun. If it affects anything besides flashlights, it becomes a hindrance to communication, and that's not what I want this idea to be.
This would be quite cool. I would love to be able to see different to humans. Only thing is, if at night during PVP and you have dark vision compared to other people, wouldn't it be unfair because you can't see them as well but they can see you fine?
Ah okay, well in that case I think the idea is worth a shot. Actually that would be rather awersome. And to restore balance simply give the races who cant see at night some nightvisiion googles i love NVG's Anyway on that behave, dont the developers intent anyway to give the races a few unique abilities? I think that one would fit just fine.
Only problem is each species lives on different planets. Not as in they are all in one planet but that avians florans everyone is spread out in the galaxy and members of the same species would be born under different suns and after years changes will happen.
