I have noticed that temperature only seems to go one way, down. Why not up or be variable with depth on certain planets. My suggestion is make temperature change with depth or even have the possibility of over heating. Why is it on desert planets I am able to walk around as much as I want without feeling the effects of temperature? Deserts can be just as deadly if not more so than the arctic. On desert planets you should get heat exhaustion if you stay out in the sun too long but if you go underground or in the shade you will reverse the effect back down to normal. Also it would be cool to see some planets have cold cores, and some have hot cores (depending on biome). As you dig deeper the effects may take more effect depending on the planet and its difficulty.
So much of this right here! I also agree with this idea! if anything it could help personalize the armor characters wear even more!
Exactly, I think if they are going to try and make us want to stay on one planet for all of our needs, then this will add some difficulty in reaching the far deep.
Since we're talking about dynamic temperatures, I think it would be a great Idea if background tiles made a difference in temperatures too. Right now, the outside temp stays the same if you go indoors into a house or lab or whatever. It would be great if buildings had an effect on temps, hot or cold. A dwelling on the asteroid belt should probably be a bit warmer than the cold vacuum of space.
I have noticed slight differences in temperature if you have background tiles. Particularly on a snow planet at night I noticed that it was warmer, so when I went to go take a screenshot it was warmer with background tiles. Ok since the above images are broken links are here: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197995894317/screenshot/455159327725118379 http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197995894317/screenshot/455159327725126267
This is the thread i was looking for. Anyways.... I was wondering why we didn't have a max temp meter yet. It seems logical, and obvious. A planet near a sun could quite possibly insta crisp you in direct sunlight.(Think Riddick) A world where the sunrise is deadly.
The background tiles are really neat I don't think I noticed that. I didn't think of it, but this would/ could also add a dynamic sort of difficulty level as well. Ex: Wearing dessert armor means you take more dmg while in cold. Thus if you take an upgrade path all the way in one area exploring certain planets would be more difficult as well. Tiy did mention dangerous weather conditions which I am excited about
