I like durability for printed items.

If you read further, he said it was a joke. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  3. But then it would feel kinda discouraging for a person who did have the option turned on.

For example, if me and you were playing, I would just see you drillin' down merrily, and I'd have to keep looking around for more ore.
I would be very immersed in the experienced and suddenly when I look back at what you're doing, you have crazy good ore that you got in two seconds.

But its not understood yet of how long it would take for said pick to wear down to a noticeable amount. I highly doubt that a few swings of the pick and its suddenly trying to carve rocks with a spoon. At least I dont think the devs would do that.
A good implementation would be it would take a lonnnggg time to wear down a decent quality pick for the simple reason of limiting frustration but just enough to show just how big a world can be.
Also if your referring to using a wooded pick? of course its going to be frustrating! wood vs granite does not bold well for the user...

As fun as playing with dynamite is, no, long straight tunnels connected to some kind of shaft is more efficient.
All printed items? Could work, as long as they're not too expensive. This still favors bringing spare stuff in case your items break.

This incentivizes you to dig smart or collect whetstones aka sharpening stone to keep tools sharp on the go

  7. I mean, in single mode.
In multiplayer it would be set by server admin, I guess.

Actually, I'm fine with what Tiy said.
As long as it doesn't affect my quadruple barreled exo-thermic plasma shotgun then I'm one happy shark.

  10. Still, if a friend of mine has much better tools than me in his single player playthrough just because his tools are invincible, I would feel discouraged.
I guess that's my problem though.
Excuse my while I go threaten him to make sure he will have the option turned on (if it does become an option)

I would really only want durability ONLY if it was from 3D printed items. Otherwise, it's Minecraft all over again. Crap tools because they're easy to find/use.

Same here! Speaking of shotguns, are you friends with Hylotl? Just... asking. Because I'm curious, you know. Not that I want to kill some or anything. No.

  13. :)
It could be shown in stats, just like a "wet track" option in TopGear (if you know what I mean :iswydt:)

hmm, hoped for incentive to carry and use multiple guns, and use the same pick. Instead there's incentive to carry multiple picks and use the same gun(the best at the time)

Yeah, but I don't think Tiy would want for us to sharpen stuff on the go, so we'll have to go back to our ship to sharpen stuff, and it'll be a pain...

Tiy said he's laying off George for making a mistake by saying "Chance to give a blueprint" as opposed to 100% chance.

Then he clarified it was a joke.
Laying off George for such a trivial mistake, that is. :p

No, of course not! I wouldn't dare accompany myself with that rowdy bunch of oversized fish-things. :proper:
