Something I realized, although this is just a theory for now (I didn't had the patience to "spreadsheet" it) Jam price is 50g + somemultiple of base fruit price Wine is just somemultiple, but higher than Jam Both take a long time to make... (dunno precisely how much). My theory is that for cheap fruits, Jam is more profitable, for example if a fruit base price is 50, the +50 already is a good boost... But in high-priced fruits (those that cost 150+ I guess, or even higher), wine is probably more profitable. Thus in my current season I am stuffing strawberries into kegs (I never drunk wine made of strawberry... is it any good?) and apricots and cherries (from trees) into jam makers.
^ This. Also.... wooden crates and barrels break slower with an axe than with a weapon. I guess Summon Night Swordcraft Story taught me wrong then
That's not a bad idea. What I've found (and it happened by accident) is if I have various things saved up by winter, throwing them in the kegs and jammers is a good way to make money throughout. Of course I'm sure that's irrelevant once you get a greenhouse but it is working well for me in my first winter.
"If I play this for 12 hours a day every day I'll burn through it too fast and be a lost little kitten in a week"
Winter seeds made an insane amount of money my first winter. First you get 1 of each and turn them into the community center for 30 seeds, then once those all grow you can craft like 100 seeds out of the crop, and it snowballs from there. Also that crystal fruit makes pretty expensive jam/wine until you get starfruit/ancient fruit
Yeah I have done some of that as well but I'm mostly focusing on leveling up my watering can for spring so that means no farming for a few days.
For the jams and wines, I am using melons for both and I am getting 750 for melon wine and 550 for the jams and I don't have the artisan perk.
In Journey of the Prairie King, I realized you can tuck yourself to a corner, have half of your body protected and not worry about all sides, then just kill the mobs as quickly as you can. Granted you won't be able to pick up stuff, but you can live for a pretty long time like that if you've got the hand-mashing skills.
Time does NOT stop while you're talking with someone in the Egg Hunt. Dammit Maru, I could have gotten three more eggs in that time! Still won the festival though. Piece of cake.
Okay, from that, I know the multipliers. Jams/pickles are 2x + 50, wines are 3x, and juices are 2.25x, where x is the value of the crop at no stars. Jam vs. wine: 2x + 50 = 3x 50 = x Pickles vs. juice 2x + 50 = 2.25x 200 = x 50g is the point at which the value of jams and wines are equal, while 200g is where pickles and juices are equal. Below those, go with jams/pickles. Above those, go with wines/juices. On the other hand, brewing is a good bit slower than preserving, so your gold/day will be lower, but your gold/crop will be higher. Furthermore, silver star price multi is x1.25, and gold star price multi is x1.5. Preserving or brewing fruits and vegetables does not keep the star value; however, since both of these multipliers are lower than the multipliers you get from processing these foods, it is always more profitable to process them. EDIT: New information on this discovered on the official wiki. Revising this post to reflect it.
Did anyone else try to use the shipping box as a storage unit? And then realize the next day that you just sold all your stuff.
In the same vein I discovered that putting a chest directly next to the shipping box is a bad choice.
Making sure to visit the Traveling Cart EVERY Friday and Sunday. I wandered across it once and didn't start making a trip out every time until Winter. Dammit.
Same. And I still will not realize I should visit it until Saturday or Monday. Every time. On Thursday I will even make a mental note of it "VISIT THE TRAVELLING CART TOMORROW" Do I? No.
For the longest time, I couldn't figure out why sometimes I clicked on the bulletin board outside Pierre's shop and got a calendar, and other times a want ad. I didn't know they were next to each other. I also didn't know I could turn my TV on until I read an article online from some guy who also hadn't known he could turn his TV on.
i didnt know how the elevator works in the mines so i allways started at level 1 for the first 2 month
Yeah, not much new to add here. I haven't played a Harvest Moon-style game since I had the GameBoy Color version (so we're talking about 20 years, here). I didn't even try holding down the button on my upgraded Hoe or Watering Can until sometime in the Fall of Year 1 - epic facepalm. I wasted who knows how many (real AND in-game) hours trying to water about a hundred crops one by one for months. Ugh. I also fell into the trap of letting my OCD convince me to clear all that darn grass that was growing all over and slowing me down. And then I built a Silo and a Coop in a week's time. Yeah. Thank goodness that was the same day CA dropped the "grass grows faster now" update. Also, don't sell the Gold Star-quality Pomegranate that your Fruit Bats scrounged up for you, because now you have to wait for almost an entire year to go by in order to complete the last non-fishing Bundle. >.<
