I think duck feathers should NOT replace duck eggs drop. I think they should be independent of each other. If not, at least triple it's current price, but I think it being a rare BONUS drop from ducks is the right decision. It should be like rabbits. I know many things on the game are just for fun and a matter of variety of styles, but there are some discrepancies which makes it just TOO unfair for some people who likes alternative styles. I'm curious to know if Concerned Ape has already something in mind to do with Duck Feathers or if they just don't mind it. For some people who don't know about the under-performing of ducks: 1-They are WAY more expensive than chickens, while under-performing as a profit making, resulting in a long way road to get your invested money back. 2-They lay eggs every other day (if they drop a feather, egg won't drop from the respective duck). 3-Duck Feathers (which seem to be the deluxe drop from ducks) are WAY inferior to their common drops (Duck Eggs). The reason is that Duck Feathers are sold for 125 - 250 (quality) or 150 - 300 with Rancher perk. Duck Mayonnaise (from duck eggs) PUREST sell price is 375, which is 75 gold ABOVE the highest possible sell price for Duck Feathers, let alone applying Artisan or Rancher perk (525 and 450 resp.) With Artisan perk you almost DOUBLE the highest possible sell price of the feather. This is ridiculous. 4-Duck Feathers have no other utility in the game other than the one-time-use for the Dye Bundle. Ok, it's loved by ONE villager and liked by another, but its NEUTRAL to every other villager, except for Penny, who DISLIKES it. Duck Eggs and Mayonnaise are liked by the majority of the villagers, so this utility of the Feather is kind of pointless. Edit: Just to be clear. I don't want to turn everything in this game as a Money Maker, everything equally profitable. Negative. It's always nice to have alternative styles (such as cuteness for example) in a game like this one. But I believe that even those alternative styles should be fairly rewarding, in terms of profit (which is NOT happening currently). Should Ducks compete with Pigs, or Pigs compete with late game wines? I don't think they should. Should they lie down on the bottom of a huge abyss, in terms of profit? You guys get my point?
i was wondering the same, about the feathers, and i was like "oh well, lets keep em, in case" the Duck Feathers having more uses would be the best to have, so we can keep the duck for something nice maybe a once in a year thing from an event or the cart shop.... or just another buff would be nice, yes maybe also a request once you have a coop? nice money, of course, otherwise you'd be better off selling the feather itself i know Demetrius would love to request it
Yes. He's a researcher. That makes a lot of sense if he requested it at least once. However...I still think it should NOT replace an egg. Even fixing that, chickens would still be generally making more money with daily golden star mayos. So it's not that big deal for them to make this buff happens. I also don't know if there is a limit in the code that makes animals generate only one item in a single day. If so...that's why they left it this way. So if it's true...more PERMANENT uses are necessary.
i'm not sure, i know one of my void chickens once gave me two void eggs one morning(two birds three eggs)
I guess it is a matter of perspective, but I always viewed the 4,000 paid for the Duck to be for all of my ducks since I always incubate more every chance I get. Once you have hatched 4, then the cost is about 800 per duck. And a newly hatched duckling sells for 1260 with no work at all. So selling 5 gets you about 2300 profit assuming you hatch 4 then sell the next five. I like ducks in that they only lay every other day and the profit from the duck egg to duck mayo is the same as 2 regular eggs to regular mayo. So it's half the work. For the same profit on two days. I do understand the point about losing the egg for a feather that doesn't have a lot of value, so I'm not trying to kill the original post/point. But for me I guess I am saying the 4000 cost isn't an issue, since the money is made raising/selling ducks not duck eggs or duck mayo. in fact, once I get a duck feather for the bundle I can sell the original duck for quite a bit and just raise little ones over and over. ?
ok, i got an extra void egg again. surely this is something that can happen? same file same bird(i went down to just one void chicken since i did not need a second)
Actually it's not the double. 399 for golden star chicken mayos and 525 for duck mayos. But yes...I was told about the incubating ducks. However...this strategy is to be made with only one duck, because you can only incubate one egg per coop. So there are not many reasons to have more than one duck, unless you really like them. Also they don't hatch that fast.
Gold star mayo comes from large eggs. I was talking about regular eggs. The comparision was regular eggs to duck eggs. Large eggs replace regular eggs and have a use, while duck feathers replace duck eggs and don't. Large egg> feather. That was given in the op and not contested by me. I was addressing the usefullness of ducks vs chickens baseline. And also the 4000 pricetag for the duck. from the wiki: mayo 190 - egg 50 = 140 profit. 2 days of doing this = 280 profit. 1 duck mayo 375 - duck egg 95 = 280 profit. 280 profit = 280 profit. But with Ducks you go to the coop every other day. That right there sounds like a pretty basic reason to have more than 1 duck, and replace chickens with them anyway if one wanted coop animals. -edit. I see you factored in artesian. 266-50= 216. x2 = 432. & 525-95 = 430. For a lost 2 I will still take ducks and not deal every day. I usually do keep my two original chickens (1 white and 1 brown) to collect the large eggs which I make gold mayo from with the mayo machine. Since as we all know that is more profitable. But then the rest of my coop slots are filled with ducks for the every other day harvest of eggs and the weekly sellable birds. After getting the deluxe coop upgrade to allow rabbits I get one rabbit for the bundle chasing and fill the rest with ducks. I sometimes even buy a 2nd coop to keep the chickens who harvest evey day next to my house and move the deluxe coop further out. That is two incubators running. It's not rediculous money like pale ale, but it beats chicken money. Especially for the effort and time put in. I keep more than 1 duck because with grass the feeding is free and I pet them when I gather eggs. Just before winter the elevated heart ducks can be sold for even more money and reduce the winter feed bill and the rabbit, two chickens and single duck can be placed in the heated coop next to my house ready for next year. The OP complained about the 4,000 cost for a duck and I was just pointing out that was very misleading. Buy 1 duck for $4000 then you can sell a duckling every 7 days after the first egg for 1260 each. Getting your money back after 4 weeks. And you still have access to as many ducks as you want ever. (Just don't sell the last one.) So it is not 4000 for 1 duck. It's a 4000 investment in unlimited ducks and sold duck money every week. <the perspective I was trying to give you> The time is takes to hatch them is moot, since it is not lost opportunity and you are not having to do anything after the dumping of the egg into the . Are you using the incubator for anything else? You do not get anywhere near these numbers trying to hatch chickens instead, especially considering you can afford to miss a few days of grabbing duck eggs and not lose eggs compared to the same number of chickens. All of this can be done with 2 mayo machines. The one built to make money and the one gotten from bundle reward. What else are you placing in your coop slots?
oh, it's gone another way, i was hoping for a nice idea for duck feathers, but it's all about profits now i see on the wiki that 2x large eggs mayo is more than 1x duck mayo every 2 day you get a duck egg, and at one point everyday you get a large egg, so with friendship, chickens keep giving more chicken - everyday 1 large egg = 285g mayo duck - every 2 days 1 duck egg = 375g mayo sure, you have to be friends with them, but once you did that, it's all large eggs everyday and still the duck feathers are mostly useless, which barely drop, so selling them is once in a while only i pet all my animals everyday, and open the coop when it's nice weather, and my duck is around 4 hearts now, but still saw only a very few duck feathers
