Dragon King Arena

Discussion in 'Starbound Discussion' started by ethanator2008, Dec 14, 2013.

  1. I currently have a 36 DPS gun and a 71 DPS Hammer. I also have titanium armor, so I fell ready to fight the dragon king. However, I a not sure what type of arena should I fight him in. Can anyone post pictures of arenas or just tell me how to make a good one for him? Also if you have any combat tips for the boss please tell me them.

I didn't build an arena, per se. What I did was seal off all the caves and holes and dig tunnels through cliff faces. You may also want to fight him on a level 1 planet, so monsters don't get in your way.

I just used a 5x2 hole. Shallow enough to still shoot the dragon, but deep enough to keep it from blasting me with its breath.

  4. Would this work as a good arena for the Dragon King?

The holes above me are so that I can shoot out at the Dragon. Hopefully I can hide under the rectangles to avoid his attacks.

Alright I'm gonna be honest, Those holes? You have the right idea HOWEVER, Dig a pit even further down and make the floor out of wood platforms, His fire that lingers will fall through the platforms leading you out of harm's way. Think of it like Space invaders.

you can make the holes even smaller. For the robot, I hid behind a wall with just a single block knocked out. It was like one of those movies when the assassin slides just the barrel of the gun out to make the kill :)

I just fought him on flat land.

  8. Like this?

Or did you mean for me to put the platforms on the very top of the arena, on the holes?

EDIT: This is a reply to Takuun

You're preparing for something that isn't very hard to fight. All you need is large, flat surface and the ability to predict where his fire breath will go while he's using it. Bandages/Healing items in case you get hit/step into the residual fire. Energy Dash/Pulse Jump to safely avoid the residual fire while giving you more room to fight.

Your bunker should work nicely though. Just watch out for the flames.

Unless they fixed his AI recently, all you have to do is just fight him on flat land, and take a single step forward when he shoots... his aim is really bad guys.

That bunker will def work well, Though you wanna stay ontop of the platforms and his residual fire will go below it so all you need to do is shoot him.

  12. Ok and I also heard that one hit from his flames will instantly kill you, is that true?

I like to just make note of existing buildings I can use for cover and then come back later to spawn bosses there. For all the bosses. Above-ground shelters like the small Apex or USMC bunkers (not the major complexes) make great spots, save the trouble of building anything. You can close the doors behind you an heal up too for a bit during the battles if you need to. Although things like the UFO break up the shelters, they do so slowly enough that you can defeat the boss before your cover is totally blown.

I fought him on flat land, but I also had Bubble/Butterfly Boost so I essentially fought him by flying around him, stabbing him with my double Crafted Swords, it was REALLY fun. (Used farmable food items ot keep myself healthy.)

I spawned him over an avian village.
Then I threw bombs at him til he died.
    Fun times.
