It makes sense for high tier crafting to use the higher levels of energy ore. The current game is certainly too slanted towards massive stat upgrades with each tier. That sort of thing can be arrested with new mechanics and special abilities instead.

Agreed. A bit off topic, i apologize but there really needs to be more sidegrades, especially in armor.

Metal armors with trims based on metal and elemental based on something?
    Iron/steel armor with copper/silver/gold/platinum trims.
    Affects bonus stats in grades.
    Iron copper = +10% def
Iron silver = +10% def and hp
Iron gold = +10% def and hp and energy
Iron platinum = +10% def and hp and energy&regen

So maybe by adding 5 bars of the next tier (or the later fuels for ferozium, Violium and Impervium) you could add like a 15% increase in armour and stuff. Anyways that is getting off topic. I don't see why adding uranium to aegisalt to get ferozium is such a big deal. It is based in the future. The point is coal should not be the answer to making stuff so much better

And wtf why are there 7 votes for coal? Is it somehow good to have a material found in all sectors that massively increases stats?

Coal alone isn't the only material that enhances metals.
We could utilize fabrics into space armor since they are necessary for hazardous environments and survivability.

It not always about strong armors.

Anything could replace coal without too much trouble but as of now it is too common to be used so much

This would make sense instead of the one-coal-fits-all system
