First off, they are not the same sprite if you bother to compare the two. It is obvious that you guys just had a similar idea. Secondly, the forum time is not affected by time zones; otherwise all of your posts would say "2 hours ago" as soon as you posted them and would not be sorted in proper order. Most forums work on their own time, your time zone has nothing to do with it. This was definitely posted first. And finally, this idea makes much more sense than yours. Don't blame the language barrier for this one friend; if you wanted to you could have typed your idea out in Portuguese and then put subtitles on it. If you are going to go around accusing people of things, make sure that you at least have a solid point supported by evidence.
Okay, let's get things clear here. First of all, OP didn't post the picture when he made the thread, he added the picture later, so we don't know what time it was. Second of all, OP did not steal the sprite since it's not the same sprite and he also didn't steal the basic idea for the sprite, because a doppelganger is not something that OP made up but is a well known mythical creature that is often presented as a pitch-black copy of the protagonist. It's obvious why WillianPDX feels bad that this popular post's sprite is so very similar to his, so I don't think you guys should give him a hard time about it.
I did not steal the sprite in any way. I just wanted to make a quick (yet pretty) sprite, so I made this one, roughly half an hour after I made this thread (since it didn't have the picture initially). I only used one base sprite and altered the palette of it, nothing special. If you feel upset for that, that's totally not my fault, as I didn't steal the sprite. (it wasn't copyrighted anyway, was it? ) I'm sorry for inconvenience, but no steal was made here. ACTA doesn't function yet...Phew!
I figured as much was the case. Somebody jumped to conclusions and subsequently jumped the gun. Care to take a look at my own submission, Dark? The link is in my signature right down there V
I agree, as shapeshifting would be my second choice, right after phasing but just above mind-control. Anyway, I agree that it would be more fun if it could turn into anything. That's also kinda why I said: Shapeshifters FTW!
While it would be fun to "essentially" turn into anything, being a huge dragon with the weaknesses of the originally Doppelganger would really suck. I'm a huge dragon, but I don't have any extra armor or strength because of it.. But anyways, like aforementioned mentioned in my previous post, great idea.
It's less about the power and more about the stealth But yes I can see where that would be a disadvantage In Dungeons and Dragons lore, Dopplegangers can turn into any other medium-sized creature, meaning that while they can change their size somewhat they are only able to effectively mimic creatures in the same height range as them.
You are correct with that... And I do agree with you on the strategy of stealth with this creature. Especially if they were to mimic general townspeople and somehow infiltrate your space station... Just think, walking past all defenses and getting inside your base, only to start an all out war against your scientists.
Yes, i think I remember that from reading some of the rulebooks (Yes, I actually read some of the rulebooks ) Also, being a doppelgänger is mostly fun because you can trick people and just because you can change the way you look, which is fun and can be interesting. There also might be the possibility of eternal life...
...can't you use a lighter shade of red, bro? I fiddled with the 3.5 character creator myself but never actually played I made a pretty nice Changeling character too
Having trouble reading my posts? I guess the color isn't suited for all screens... I believe most people should be able to read it just fine. Maybe it's your red eye filtering the color (jk) Anyway, I've never done much with Dungeons and Dragons, as we never played it or anything. My brother baught the rulebooks and never did anything with it :S I've read them and ones I was done with them I didn't really care all that much about them anymore either. The many monster pictures were very nice though =)
There are tons of features and information in the D&D Rule Books. I have all editions of D&D up to 3.5 and I bought the eBook versions of 4.0 as well. It's a good reading for anyone in the Fantasy or Game Creation Realm of Role Playing Games. Tons of Information in them. I am currently working on a Dice Based Gaming system right now using only D6's that can play in any realm. Fantasy, Wuxia or Modern. I will be getting it published when everything is finalized and solidified.
That's one of the inspirations, apparently. But hey, that's not Team Meat inventing doppelgangers, right?
