Its not "suicide", it is more like a sacrifice disguised as a learning ritual. I think the lore goes: If you jump off the celestial tower (that) and you hit the ground, you are not worthy to live under Kluex. I think thats how the lore goes at least.
XtremeNinja45 if your title is a Zelda reference I will find you and I will marry you. "twenty-three is number one"-deku scrub
I once found one of those towers. i was fighting the guards inside. in an attempt to pin one to the wall i whacked him towards the door. i wasnt expecting him to go through the door and take the innocent avian with him. then a hostile flying creature killed the avian on the other side. later i climbed back down to find both the avian guard and the innocent avian, who previously dropped from the top of the tower, undamaged at the bottom. i killed the guard and talked to the avian who was muttering something about not being ready.
I killed the guards by knocking them off the tower and went to speak to the pink avian on the right side of the tower. She said to me, "Do you think Kluex will accept me?" And then a bird vomited exploding acid at her and she was no more. So I went to the one on the left side, an orange avian. He said "Wings don't fail me now!" but never jumped. I thought to myself, "How can I push him off? My weapons are far too deadly to simply knock him back..." And so I broke the blocks beneath him. Then somehow the guards had survived the fall, at the bottom, and were supremely pissed at me.
I was exploring a planet with a friend and we stumbled upon one of these. Naturally, when I saw her I just pushed her off. I didn't even stop to think about what she was saying.
hah.. how im used to them lol for some reason i find alot of those avian temple tower thingies and theres ALWAYS that one suicidal Bird on top of it. At first it seemed strange and maybe even a little sad, but when that happens so often (not to mention that it happens in a game), i stop giving a sh*t, if there was any to give in the first place lol. then it becomes more like a running gag xD "OOOH will she jump today?" kinda made me think of that one 'funny' quest in the shivering isles addon of oblivion hehe...
NPCs don't take fall damage, so technically if the ritual was similar to our 'Witch' testing 'rituals' they would be deemed unworthy and killed... Because they didn't die. o.0
NPCs take fall damage. I've pushed these guys off the towers many times and they're dead when I get down there. Also, guards have very little health when I check on them after I've pushed them off, far less health than when they were at the top.
