How is there anyone left on this forum that doesn't have a donor badge????

I bought one as soon as I found out the pre-order was available and my paycheck went through

 

I dunno how to connect it to my profile account

I also don't care

 

Some bought Pixel tier.

Others just have their opinions on preorders. Some didn't buy yet. Some don't want to buy yet, they would prefer to see the game come out first. There are many reasons.

 

Some people are smart, and will buy the game after release if there are good reviews and stuff.

 

Some people need dollah dollah bills.

 

Some people are jerks who like getting their games for free... JERKS!

 

I went in on a 4-pack pixel tier with 3 other friends. They are interested in the game but had no desire to get forum badges as they don't post on the forums. Well, one did express interest actually but ultimately we decided on the pixel tier.

 

I just don't understand how anyone that's been on these forums even casually wouldn't be so excited to immediately throw their money at Chucklefish and shell out at least $20 to fund this game.

Wait for reviews or don't agree with pre-orders....really??? I mean seriously?? Are there really people on this forum that aren't confident enough with all the content announced that this game isn't going to be an instant hit?

I'd believe Taokaka more in that he just can't be bothered to link his account to the pre-order than that people aren't pre-ordering immediately. Maybe I'm just so excited about this game I can't fathom people not being as hyped as I am.

it ended up being a really boring game and a console port after they promised it wouldn't be

Ah, that makes sense. Saving money. I don't have time for friends, so I have none...I'm 28 with a wife and two kids under 2 yrs old with 3hrs of commuting every day. I will pretty much only be able to play Starbound when I have down time at work lol

Still totally worth the $20 usd.

 

Ummm..... what? Sorry that I'm apparently an alien to you... Money is time, time can't be replaced, and thus time is valuable, and thus money is valuable. If you're not joking then there is no way possible for me to convince you.

 

It always has been. There are people willing to pay and there are freeloaders.

 

Nope, not joking. I can tell if I'm going to enjoy a game or not if I'm given enough information beforehand so don't need to wait. I've been playing games for 25+ years. I know what games I'll enjoy or not and $20 is only about half an hours worth of work for me...so I can definitely guarantee that I'll get more than 30mins of enjoyment from the game.

 

How can you free load a game? You know, aside from pirating?

 

Content doesn't mean a lot if the gameplay is sloppy, or it runs poorly (slow, crashes, et cetera). Maybe the controls are hideously designed and have no customization option, and the game is coded in such a way that 3rd party programs to remap keys don't work in the game. There are a lot of things that people worry about that they can't really tell without playing the game. A lot of my concerns aren't even covered by reviewers. My only choices for seeing if I like a game are buying it, cracking it, or playing a demo if it exists.

 

Well if anything they will need to have more protection against pirating..... i just hate it when people pirate games. I know they wont be able to get support unless it's from other players but to me it's just not right to pirate games AND yes i do know why people do it. The fault of pirating is on both sides(if you don't know what i mean: there are 2 classes of pirates- those who do this to trial games then buy it and those who freeload up and the fault is on the other side because they don't provide demo's or anything to go off of besides gameplay videos and which we all know get boring)

I opted out of getting my badge because i believe a badge should be earned for going out of your way to do something great for the community. In my opinion the badge negates that purpose.

 

To save cash with the 5 bucks I can get a cd, also I got the least worthy badge lol

 

Agreed, but we've seen videos of actual in game content. It satisfied me that it was put together enough that I would be able to adapt to any annoying quirks if there were any.

 

Speaking of which, is there any way to remove a badge? I honestly had second thoughts about the tweeting badge a few moments after getting it.
