Does starbound have some competition?

Looks like Starbound has got some competition going on.

The game's called INTERSTELLARIA and it's looking real good. I feel like competition is extremely healthy in a capitalist market because it forces all competing parties to try harder to please their customers. Only time will tell on who makes a better space exploration game. What do you guys think of this game?

Yeah, but for a 'clone' it has a lot of the features that starbound was originally supposed to have.

Seen it, looks like a dumbed down version of what Starboud curently is and will be, without the funding they posess or the potential to it, and I stand by my words, and hope I aint mistaken, cause Ill say an do say that the only thing stoping Starbound from becoming the next gen Terraria is either it taking too long, orTerraria 2, wcih I honestly doubt will b good enough t actuaaly make a dent.

Just saying, it doesent look worth it, but best of luck to them anyway.

 

This game begun life December 6th 2013. Two days after Starbound launched on Steam. Conspiracy or wut?

This looks more like a platformer / space strategy game and not similar to what Starbound is looking to create as a whole package. The Ship Management features are similar to what Tiy wanted to put in down the road but honestly those are welcome in any space game.

Not to harp on this, but Starbound has completed the original base game, greatly expanded the scope, and is currently working on delivering more than they originally expected to.

See the thing about that is that Tiy stated himself that the version that was released was more of a Tech Demo than a beta. Which calls into question some time management skills.[DOUBLEPOST=1416437708][/DOUBLEPOST]All i'm saying is that you shouldn't really discredit a game based on similarities.
For example.
Minecraft started out as an InfiniMiner 'clone'.
Terraria started out as a 2d Minecraft 'clone'.
Starbound started out as a Terraria 'clone' in space.

I wouldn't call it a 'clone' as much as I would say that it was inspired by something. I'm sure every modern game barrows a mechanic from a game before it.

Just on the title alone I wouldn't glance at it. It screams "Chinese bootleg knock off".

Technically it is competition because this is the free market. Calling it a clone is like calling all fps games doom/halo/call of duty clones. At this point 2d side scrolling crafting games is a genre. I still prefer starbound.
