Does going left always seem to work?

I don't know if its just my experience... going left seems to always be the quickest way to whatever town or dungeon happens to spawn on a planet. Anybody else have this experience?

I've gone both ways and found various things.

The planets in Starbound are actually round, so if you walk enough to a direction you'll eventually end up where you spawned. So it doesn't really matter which way you go - you will still find the village/dungeon/whatever. That is why I like to build pillars or a landmark of some sort to be awate if I went around a planet in case there are nothing to find.

While I know the planets are round (impressive, isn't it? :D) I also have the feeling that going left is usually taking less time finding something cool than going right.

Looking through my POI notes, it contains a lot of "go left for a minute or two" entries. . . So yeah, my subjective opinion is that most things of interest are to the left of spawn. However there is a right in that list and a couple locations on the opposite side of the planet so direction shouldn't matter.

yeah now that you mention it, your kinda right.
i usually find the closest 'dungeon/village' to the left

This seems to happen to me too.

Of all planets I've visited so far, only one had something closer to the right (an apex lag with a tech) while the rest had something closer to the left.

I just noticed my forum level thing too, "Spread your legs!". That's just random....

Also I have noticed that going left does lead to villages, the only thing I found to the right was a pirate ship. But technically seeing the whole planet is a loop, if you go right then you will find the village too.

Mine states I am a Space Spelunker.... so that could be interesting as well... Hmmm.

As for the directions, I'll do more testing this weekend.

Do you think they are doing it on purpose?

And as I said, regardless of the direction you travel in, if there is a village then you will find it. I think the OP just goes left more often than he goes right.

I noticed this as well, it seems like you tend to beam down with things closer to your left than to your right. I wonder if it's just a coincidence or if it has something to do with how your beaming location is determined. Like maybe if you would normally beam down into a village or dungeon or whatever then it moves you a certain distance away from it to the right.

I think that's just the fact of life with random generation. Statistically all of my starting pokemon should be mostly males, yet I get a large amount of female starters. Even if it has an equal or statistical chance of happening, it's entirely natural for you to see a "pattern", when it was just chance.

I tend to only go one way myself. In Starbound I also tend to head to the left, though I loop planets before leaving.
