Does crouching do anything?

I'm looking at Tiy's stream today, and noticed the guards like to crouch while they shoot. Is it just for aesthetics, or does it actually improve accuracy or something?

I don't think I've ever seen anyone walk while crouching either, which sounds like it'd be fun since you could sneak in places through smaller holes. Either way, just wondering what people think about crouching. It'd seem kind of weird to add it in if it doesn't do anything helpful, but at the same time, I'm gonna be one of those people that just crouches and jumps every 5 seconds because I can't stand still.

Easier to pinch out a Po, I'd imagine.

 

If the character is four blocks high while standing, but reduces to only two blocks high while crouching, then a two block high barricade would give excellent cover while crouching and still allow you to shoot over the top of it while standing. This wouldn't require you to jump while shooting, which significantly reduces accuracy because it is harder to aim while you are moving up and down suddenly. Even if you don't have cover, it still makes your hitbox smaller.

I'm not sure if crouching will actually alter the statistics of the gun by default, but it'd be a nice addition as a tech item for ranged fighters.

 

I hope that we can get through small places or take cover or avoid a hit by crouching. And maybe we'll be able to lie prone and teabag our fallen enemies.

 

I'm suddenly very opposed to having corpses left behind after death.

 

I would imagine it would be pretty easy to mod in a prone pose, from what i have seen of some debug stuff, the hit box can more than likely be changed.
Also, i think i can create armor that gives you a constant shield effect...that might be cool too.
EDIT: Actually, if you add a new pose, you would probably have to modify all the armor files to do something for that pose, which might not end well.

I just realized that if the developers add new poses in later updates, wouldn't that suddenly invalidate a ton of armor that mods created because they would be lacking the new required animations? Like, even adding in new idle poses could become a problem... Yikes... I guess we'll just be stuck with whatever poses and animations we have available at release.

 

Dang.. that 20° torso angle ruined it all again.

 

Depends on how much the mods would add, but it will essentially be a big pain to make a new art asset that matches the pose and armor, otherwise no problem, but there is a heck of a lot of armor and clothing already in, adding new poses, modded or not, would probably end up just being too much of a hassle.
Of course there is going to be some amazing person out there who does it anyway.

 

Punching with your forward arm will look fine, like a jab.

Punching with your other arm will look terrible, if you can even reach the enemy.

I'm pretty sure it was taken down because it wasn't intended to be a serious stream, but i still have it open and can record/take images of things, anything you want from it?

To be completely honest, the whole stream was Tiy grappling around, then modifying the grappling hook and showing a few config files, all while answering various questions.
Also, he showed an image of a sneak peak for a Hylotl dungeon George is working on.

Oh, and Molly's hair isn't naturally red, probably.
EDIT: And then they played Street Fighter, Molly got dominated.

 

please, no accuracy increase. it's really annoying when in games you have to crouch to actually shoot anything
