    You can have a chance to dodge projectiles with a cool animation. Maybe a 15% chance to dodge some projectiles.
    So you can be like

    Yes, then I run forward and slash you up with my sword while you're in the animation :sneaky:

    You cannot have enough bullet dodge.

    Want to know what's infinitely more cooler then dodging a bullet?

    Blocking one with a sword.

    Anyone for a genuine critique, 15% seems WAY to high, especially if your suggesting it be a basic starter thing, as humans are a competitive species here, and humans don't dodge/block bullets. Now, if we do something like cyborg augmentation like Raiden, or Adam Jensen have only in Starbound, and have one of the highest end augs let you dodge or block projectiles, I could see that happening, thought at a massive cost, like your energy bar going down really fast for your reaction time to increase to see the bullet, and for your limbs to move fast enough to react to it, or being forced to stand still while you do it.

    Requires too much animating. It's also very rng, which I don't like. Plus we already have shields which can block projectiles

    yes you can.

    @TheDarkGods
    Why not cut one in half?

    Because that only result in you getting shot twice?

    I understand this although you would have hit twice,the exact opposite of what the thread was about.

    Hmm, it's a awesome thought but in a 2D game it would be hard to make this look good in a animation perspective, specially when there are so many different projectile types in Starbound. I think it would be better to add dodging maneuvers instead of a dodging animation to avoid taking damage.

    [IMG]

    If the projectile is going to hit the character's waist/hips then you could go into prone position and by doing that you would avoid the projectile, if the projectile is going to hit the character's head/chest then you could go into kneeling position and by doing that you would avoid the projectile. And if the projectile is going to hit the character's legs then you could jump, and in that way avoid that projectile.

    Of course, these maneuvers would probably not be fast enough to dodge all the projectiles from a machine gun type of weapon because it would shoot the projectiles very fast. Then you could use a shield though, but I guess you can't use a shield in the game while you are using a sniper rifle type of weapon.

    Anyways... What I'm getting at here is that I think it would be better to have positional dodging maneuvers. Like jump really high to avoid projectile spread where you were standing from before on the ground, hop to the left or right if the bullets are coming from above, etc.
