Do you think StarBound will be the best game ever in 2014?

I think StarBound will be the in like the top 10 of the best 2D games ever chart in 2014 but you never know

Depends on if it comes out in 2014.

That said, it also depends whats coming out in general, in 2014. Starbound can't stand up toe to toe with the next CoD, GTA, or whatever on top ten charts.
2D sandbox is a bit of a niche market, when 3D variants exist.

Edit: If we are only talking 2d then.. possibly. There are some unique 2D projects in the works like Mighty No.9 and Shantae: Half Genie Hero that may release in 2014. It really is nice to see the gameplay perspective making a nice strong comeback, providing some good competition with one another.

To answer the question in the title, no. I don't believe that's a fair title to give any game. It will probably be a great game for its time, it may even make gaming history.

 

I won't know until the game releases and what other games release in 2014 so no use speculating.

 

I played through GTA5 singleplayer in a week. I honestly do not think Starbound will be top game for 2013 or 2014 since GTA Online will be continually upgraded and added to. Cannot wait for the online Heist update, that will be good no matter who you are. Heck, from 12yr olds to adults and even my father who doesn't play games everyone enjoys the hell out of GTA5. We might get even better games in 2014 also, recently the industry had an upturn in overall quality barring obvious stinkers like Colonial Marines.

EDIT: I'm not saying at all Starbound will suck. If it releases in a timely manner and I have it I will likely play the hell out of it. Just stating it will likely not be game of the year.

 

I don't know, smash bros is coming out... But it'll be up there.

No. It won't be the best game ever. It's just another game. Like every game out there. I'm sure it'll be a fun game, but it's not going to be the game to end all games.
I'm tired of people praising Starbound as the Gospel and Chucklefish as a messiah. This is the reason I stopped playing Minecraft with other people.

 

For me, no. There are other games coming out that in my opinion are going to top it.
Still, Starbound will probably take a significantly larger chunk of my time then all the other games I'm going to be playing next year.

 

No, I don't. I think it will be a good sandbox game that I've certainly been waiting for for a while. But not the best game of 2014.

 

I have no clue as I have yet to play it even then I can not perfectly gauge what popular culture latches on to if I could do that I would be very rich. What it boiled down to is I have no clue.

 

Hard to say. There is no one best game, but it'll definitely be up there

 

I'm sure it will be good as a game but my real hope is that it will be good as a platform for modding. I forsee it still being fun years in the future because of community additions.
