I haven't really listened to much music while playing Starbound lately, mostly because I got a new laptop and haven't transferred my music over yet.
But I'm rather partial to some of the great stuff on OCRemix.
Especially Megaman, Metroid and what few Earthworm Jim (there seriously needs to be more) remixes there are. A few others of course. But I like the sci-fi themed stuff for Starbound.

Please tell me you play an Apex. :geek:

Sometimes I listen to the Starbound soundtrack, other times I listen to whatever songs I'm in to. Right now I've been listening to a lot of Meek Mill and (don't judge me) Nicki Minaj.

I tend to run around holding a piano and listening to that.

50% of the time I'm listening to Starbound and 50% I'm listening to my own music.
Honestly, I really hope we get more Starbound music added. What we have so far is awesome! I just wish there was more. lol

The music got really old for me fast so I've started to play music outside of the game.

I hate to say I am not a fan of some of the music. I just started playing the game and I thought the soundtrack was very unique to Starbound. However, with some tracks the mood is very randomly/ill-paced. For example, there is one track that sounds romance themed and sounds like it came from a cheesy The Bachelor finale. Other times it is depressing.

Even worse there is a glitch, in my game at least, where certain tracks (particularly the saddest one and some of the more annoying ones) loops. When I resize window or exit fullscreen, the music changes so I have to just resize window or go to outpost or something to force music to change tracks. That can get annoying though.

SB music should be reserved for certain areas. I think it becomes too much of an overplayed CD if you just have all tracks looping wherever you are. I started listening to Phantasy Star Online/Harvest moon/Final Fantasy music in the background. Just something to regulate the mood...

I like to listen to Starbound's soundtrack, but since I'm tend to play several hours at once, it can get pretty boring after a while. And since I love game music, I usually just play one that fits with the environment I'm in at the moment.
Ship and Outpost: Hunter Base (Megaman X - Command Mission).
Desert planets and Avian Villages: Lyanaru Desert - Present (The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword).
Snow and Ice planets: Frozen Game (Custom Robo), Glacial Activity (Megaman X - Command Mission), remix of Trail on Powdery Snow (Megaman Zero 3).
Asteroid fields: remix of Ice Brain (Megaman Zero 2), Space Station (Frogger 2).
Apex laboratory: Disco Lab (Frogger 2).
Underground: Super Mario Bros. - Underground Theme (Super Smash Bros Brawl).
These are the ones I always choose. For other environments and places I still juggle between many tracks and can't decide which ones are the most fitting..
