Do we know why Ocean/Frozen Ocean Biomes were taken out?

Very handy for hiding your own place in lava.

yeah, thats what I was talking about w/ the 'Issues' with fluids. I remember that being an issue when I modded the ocean biome back into my game

I hope they can fix it. I would be awesome to build a boat and sail some in this game

One of biggest issues overall, it seems, is that oceans to look natural must not have anything behind the water surface, you know, no background blocks, but due to game physics water with no background simply evaporates, so they need to code some more advanced system for game to recognize whether or not water should evaporate.

That's pretty easy to fix, especially since it's a whole world type. Simply have all background blocks (ground elevation or below) generate water instead of evaporating it. A gigantic water flow becomes pointless as draining water gets filled in before it propagates too far out.

You could even say that water becomes the new liquid on an ocean biome, only it's transparent and flows uphill instead of down.

The molten magma layer can be substituted with a crush depth layer or even a superhot water layer. Alternatively the water could be immune to lava evaporation, preventing the endless waterfall issue.

  7. This makes me think of the Terraria exploit that people used to flood Hell. I'm sure they'll find some clever way of doing it. Probably something like a locked in sea-level mechanic where the surface water level will never drop below, or some new form of liquid that looks like water but simply create more water instead of physically moving. The latter would mean that all caves would have to be flooded completely.

I'm pretty sure that lava and water don't interact- at least, they didn't the last time I saw the two in the same place.

You're correct. It was disappointing when I tried it :p

  10. What I really hope for is a better system for moving/storing liquids. The Terraria/Minecraft bucket concept is super annoying ><

It would be kinda neat if they had different "technological level" solutions to this, where you can create buckets in T1-T2, but in T3-T4 you have "Autobuckets" and conveyor belts/elevators, and then in T5-T6 you have pipes and pumps, and T7+ you have "Water fabrication" machines that don't need a water source.

Really, though, I just like the idea of going to someone's house and watching 50 buckets of water attached to a conveyor belt moving around and refilling his fountain. Call it the Rube Goldberg mod...
