Do the chests in the fossil minigame yield weapons and stuff?

I read on the wiki that while unearthing fossils in the minigame it's possible to get chests too. Do the chests in the minigame possess the same loot tables as chests found when exploring the world planet? Can I get up to legendary t6 weapons and armor from fossil chests? Is this a potential other source of treasure?

Also, do fossils sell for a good amount of pixels?

Also, so long as I'm on the subject of underground, do cave detectors help with locating chests in any way? Does anyone use them effectively when spelunking? Thanks for advice or information in advanced.

When playing the fossil game the chests may have a manipulator module, tech card, upgrade module, auto chip, random EPP augment, random pet collar, random instrument, or random vanity costume. It will not give weapons or tiered armor.

Don't know about the cave detector. Haven't bothered yet. I used alt/option to highlight chests.

Cave detector is amazing. Can't imagine spelunking without it. It sends out a screen sized pulse (max zoom) that is blue when passing through air, and white when passing regular blocks making it super easy and obvious if there is an opening beyond the wall/floor/ceiling.

Nifty, starting to think I should craft one of these. Chests tend to hide in wide open spaces (when spelunking as that is where structures are, which often contain crates and chests), and underground structures seem to be generated in said spaces. Not only that, but I've also noticed if you stay directly east or west when underground after finding a structure, they seem to spawn on a similar path line. Only slightly up and down of each other.
