Do all planets experience Meteor Showers?

I've seen a lot of commotion about these Meteor Showers, but I've yet to see one on my Moon planet.

Are they specific to certain biomes, sizes, etc?

    im wondering this too..........

spent like 10 hours building a kick ass house,,,, and guess what happens =.=
the bigger meteor smashed into my house DEAD CENTRE!!! and just annihilated my whole house ... m****r f****r**g meteor

it was only when that happened that i looked at the background and saw loads of crators in the biomes background =/ (world type - desert)

so yh along with Zechling i'd love to know if theres a world that DOESN'T spawn the meteors ? acid rain... that i can deal with (ill just dig into the ground till it stops...)

    <p.s>
the house i had made, was 3 floors high (from ground), 2 floors down (into ground)
with 12 rooms, had over 500 each food, a load of furniture built =/............

Some planets don't have meteor showers at all. I'll try to build planets which don't have them, due to extreme frustration. "Oh you build a fancy house! Let me come to admire!" KABOOM!
    Comparable to creepers. :ssssssssss:

Meteor showers are a weather type I believe. Possible weather types are generated for each planet (Biome specific). Meteor showers should be possible for every type of planets, except for asteroid fields. I'm no expert, someone has better information about these things. I might be completely wrong. :V

I heard if the planet's system (the area it is in) has asteroid fields then they are likely to have showers

I can kinda vouch for it, my buddies and I have made it our mission to always build our homes on a tier 10 tentacle planet as before Angry Koala. As we found said planet to build on, we noticed there was two asteroid field planets in the system, we paid no heed. Before we can even finish building a foundation we were beaten down by meteor storms immediately and they happen in quick succession. I found a new planet with no asteroidfields around and no meteor showers since!

    No.

Each planet type has a number of possible weather combinations. ie. rain/storm, acid rain, snow, fireworks, meteor showers. When a planet is generated, it is assigned one of these weather combinations, and that is the combination of weather the planet will ALWAYS have.

Meteorites showers, and large meteorites are both counted as weather types. A planet that gets meteorite showers will ALWAYS get meteorite showers, and quite frequently too. While a planet that has say, acid rain or snow, will NEVER get meteorites, as there is no weather combination that has both. As a general rule, if you see it rain, snow, rain fireworks, hail etc; you can rest easy that you will never have a meteorite drop on your head.

Huh so it really is just randomized for the most part. I guess the asteroid fields were just a coincidence. Well I learned something new, although that just means next time I go hunting for a home planet I gotta stick around a bit to observe the weather!

not 100% true, i managed to get a starting planet in which it was the lone single in its entire system
(1 Sun in its System, with one land-able planet and its center planet, with no asteroid belts)

not sure if its the same for you but the locations is in the alpha sector,

    49371104, 98445623
"The Alpha 13 Mon 258 System Ia"
    (Zero Asteroid Belts)

    Biome: Forest
planets background image was a mountainous region with crators dotted around

    <edit>
took me like 3 hours but i finally manage pick-axe all my stuff apart and loaded everything into my ship
im going to look around for a new planet to call my home :(.....

(ideally) i'd like one that rains "normal rain mostly", and doesn't have meteor showers every so often,

(altho its immersion-breaking,,,, i've downloaded the force-field mod to at least protect my house, farm and tree grove..... altho im not sure about the spawn height for the meteors, i dont want to place it to high up and the meteors "if any" manage to spawn under the field"

if thats true, should you drop me a hint on which is best planet type that
ideally has rain (as i'd like to build a mini-lake next to my home, acid rain (i dont really mind as i can deal with that as i go along.....as-long as it doesn't destroy my home, trees and farms )

snow, fireworks, i dont mind about having, it'd be nice to have them but im not really bothered about that,

JUST AS LONG as theres no bloody meteor showers :(

My current homeplanet is a X sector forest planet with 2 nearby asteroid belts. No meteor showers. I don't think it's dependant of nearby asteroid belts, just part of the random generation process.

Also, some planets have ice cube storms. Those are the best.

is the "weather control" feature in the game ?, or is that going to be added in a later update ?

that'd help SO bloody much if it is in the game/ will be in the game

Not true. At least not rain and fireworks. Those I have seen with meteors on a planet. Granted it was only 1 planet each time, but they had both. Found one with acid rain as well, although the meteors did not fall for very long at that time. The one with fireworks actually for some reason had 3; rain, firework, and meteor. More rain than anything else, but the meteors did fall.

Now I don't know if that was intended, as that was the only planet I found with 3 weather patterns, but I was on that planet for a really long time due to it being a large world. Took a while to go all the way around it, and still didn't manage it.

As for rain, I did see a storm weather one with meteors as well. Not the regular rain, but one that filled water pools.

I am unsure really how they generate, but I have seen some strange ones out there, mainly on the bigger planets...

For the snow & hail, I have not see that paired with them though.
