Dissolution Starbound Server [24/7] New Server.

Hello all,

I'm doing a bit of testing with my Starbound server, I would like to know how it performs traffic wise. Feel free to test it out its a fresh server install.

Its been a little over an hour and the server peaked at about 12 or so users before leveling out to around 8. The server appears to be running well the CPU goes above 100% utilization in top (process manager for linux) however the system CPU is only at around 20-25% so it seems the server only uses one core/cpu which I'm sure will change soon with the coming updates. Outside of that ram usage is fairly high currently around 80% usage of 2GB.

I'm not hoping to compete with the large 100-300 user servers but focus more on a smaller community. I can afford to keep this server running without help from the community however if the community wants to push for an upgrade I will need to take donations to cover costs. I will open a forum at some point for discussions related to the server. For now however enjoy and hopefully coming updates will improve the server stability if you are having any issues.

Below is output from TOP on the starbound server. I am continuously monitoring the performance of the server to see if I can help the dev team at all by identifying any leaks or performance issues related to the server.

Alright forums are up...pretty much anyway...I am sure I need to add some things but I wasn't sure what to put up that is what the suggestions forum is for .

I have also setup the server to auto restart on crash...and it will crash eventually due to player load if nothing else.

I also cooked up a neat little script to display the number of players on the server on the forums.

Completed work on an active server list, updates around every minute or so shows what players (character name) are currently online on the server. Enjoy =)

 

It's definitely a better server than quite a few I've seen already, some don't even work and others lag horribly.
The only thing I would say that is lacking at this time is people but I understand that its bedtime for people that live in America.

I try to keep things as stable as possible but it does crash occasionally from being overloaded as I said it is a fairly small server so at most I would say 12-16 players is the max it can handle for long periods of time. It is setup to auto restart after a crash so if it does crash on you just give it a minute or so and it should be back up. Ill be working on more stuff like getting a voice server up and running for communication on the server I have a poll for what server type to launch on the forums so check that out. All in all I just hope everyone has a good time ill try and keep the server as up to date as possible so stay tuned for more developments!
