Is there disease? If not, i think it would be a great feature for starbound! If you are cold to long, you can get some sort of flu or something. Or some animal bites you, you have a slim chance of some rabid disease!
I don't particulary see what that would add to gameplay. Temperature mechanics/debuffs are fine, but having to stop mining/exploring because you got hit and got a disease doesn't sound too fun to me.
I'll have to agree with the pacifistic dromaeosauridae. Any suggestions on something that it could add to the mix that actually enhances the gameplay, besides just another survival situation?
I think diseases sounds like a pretty good idea. I mean, you'll be traveling the universe, and you'll come into contact with countless things that your body might not be able to deal with. Thus, everything from bacteria to parasites could make YOU a viable host. (invest in galac-corp NOW to secure medicine for when you need it the most!) it could really bump up the difficulty, with harsher places having harsher diseases. there would, of course, also be basic medicines. and if you need stronger or more specific cures for the microbes wrecking your body, you'll have to buy from other players, or maybe research it yourself! I like the idea.
The idea does seem a bit annoying. I was thinking maybe if you had the option to allow diseases in your world or something. I definitely wouldn't mind it then! I sort of like a challenge sometimes... I was also thinking of the idea of a prepared vaccine that could make you immune to previously discovered diseases. This would help enhance multiplayer interaction, if you ask me!
I think diseases would be good mostly because you could use them to your advantage. perhaps a disease that makes you numb (not taking recoil) or you could use diseases as a weapon like throwing a poison that manipulates the brain to see your allies as foes ( probably for pvp ).
