I learnt to type on Dvorak as I had a friend that championed it as the next best thing since the last best thing. Personally, I found that even after using it for a month, I was slower at typing. I didn't have any typing fatigue when using QWERTY, and I didn't have any when using Dvorak, so no change there.

It is surely possible that, if I were to dedicate myself to it eternally, I'd find an increase in speed/etc. But why bother, when I already type extremely quickly using a left-hand dominate typing solution?

Also, the easiest way to make a Dvorak keyboard is to get a standard keyboard, pull out the keys, and replace them in the correct order. An easier, but less long term solution, would be to use stickers to change the label of the keys. All keymapping can be handled via your operating system.

    Discrimination? where?
"the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, esp. on the grounds of race, age, or sex." - Googles

And oh I believe that they are working on keybinding. That aside, you need to curve your thumb to reach the space bar? On my standard keyboard my thumb kind of rests on the space bar when my other 4 fingers are on WASD & Shift. Little finger trying to reach E? Who in the right mind does that. What finger do you press W with? what about S? HAHAHA see what I did there? You can use the same finger to press different keys! I personally use the finger that is on D to press E, yup just move my finger up a little EZPZ. Well if you ever learned to type, like I did, it comes naturally. But if you are a 5 year old I guess you have yet had the chance to do so yet. <- sarcasm implied.

To all the lefties who use their right hand for the mouse: You're probably not lefties, but cross-dominant.

I disagree with the OP that its discriminatory, but I am curious as to the ETA of rebindable controls, I thought it would've shipped with the last update. My friend has the same problem in that he plays things the left-handed way and won't have it any other way. I bought the game for him and now I've been sorta regretting it because hes played it for about a total of like 2 minutes, which comprised of him complaining about how this game needs rebindable controls.
So now me and him have just been waiting for rebindable controls. Him asking every day if starbounds been updated with it, me begrudgingly saying that it hasn't.

I don't think so. I do everything else with my left hand. There is a much simpler reason why I'm used to using the righty-setup on PCs.
I've been using computers this way for over 15 years, starting when I was about 8 or 9. I'd guess the "I started this way when I was young" applies to many lefties using computers "normally".
Leftys used to be forced to write with the right hand, and were able to learn to write, so it's not a huge stretch to assume it's similar with PCs.

As a lefty, I'd be much worse if I switched to a left-handed mouse.
