This should help, Go into your E:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Starbound and simply drag the starbound folder out of the steam folder into (wherever you want) and rename it to anything like cake. Then simply use 3Danalyze and select the starbound.exe This worked for me and i hope it works for you.

This is how i set mine up, E:\Star\win32 (Star being the renamed starbound folder) and it's the Starbound.exe thats found inside the win32 folder ;). Sorry if i was abit unclear earlier ^-^''

FINALLY, FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING STARBOUND WITHOUT STEAM. COMPLETELY REMOVING STEAM FROM YOUR COMPUTER SHOULD FIX THIS!!!.

earlier my starbound broke on me and that seemed to fix it!

Okay I am able to play the game (rather slowly) will I be able to update the game without steam? Or should I just re-install steam and wait for the devs to do something about it? because my zoom is shit and it's not enjoyable to play

The process is really long, to update you will have to re-download steam. you will then have to re-download Starbound to get the latest update. Then, you will have to uninstall steam just to play Starbound without steam. This may sound very complicated but it will work for sure. Also try playing in windowed mode that should give you a huge fps increase. hope i helped.

All this does is add extra problems for me. This is by no means a good solution that the devs should be working on instead of extra ingame stuff. How come no one has made a mod for this yet? That's what I'll be waiting for.

I know exactly how you feel man, it even made me more upset when i read the future things to add to starbound and fixing errors like these wasn't in the list. But, for now all we can do is use this method and hope someone will come up with an easier solution. Until then, see you in space!

How do you people even find these ancient threads to necro?

Anyhow... Direct3d is like part of DirectX, isn't it?
Have you tried the OpenGL version? Both 64 and 32 bit versions?
Have you tried launching from the executable files or executable launcher instead of from steam?
Have you tried any of the things discussed in this very thread?
Because your post said nothing that can be used to help you, and on top of it also necro'd a thread that hasn't been replied to in 2 years.

    Google does wonders.
Also, first thing should be to update your drivers.
