Devs are aiming for Saturday patch, hoping for Friday:

The one nice thing about people freaking out that the update isn't here yet, is that it shows the devs how much people like the game.

But then, I'm a Glass-Half-Full kind of guy.

 

Nah I am alright, I have to... wait for the patch <.<

 

it's saturday already, i wish that patch would come lol

 

So who's with me in thinking we won't see it today?

Bugs and stuff always happen whenever you write code. The art here is to accept that fact and when you try to make date predictions, always add few more days to the end result and after that give it that date to the community.

Beside all that, I don't like that devs speak for themselves like Omni did it on reddid, then other devs posted next updates on their twitters, its messy at best, leader of the project or community manger should post updates in one place, I think StarboundGame twitter is for that and we have official forums here. Locked post in general discussion with ETA on the next patch would be great.

 

I've been trying to get the point across for a while that what communication we do get just feels disorganized and best viewed with skepticism. You never know which dev anything might come from and then as soon as one says something another says they jumped the gun. There's no sense of structure to their 'company.'

In regards to the actual patch It sucks that when you hear "this weekend" you assume its either Friday or Saturday. I didn't see anyone state anything about it not coming Friday at all so a bunch of people were probably staying up late waiting for a patch that would never come. I understand that its a very lengthy update to the overall game but If it's not coming today you'd think they would at least, at the very least, let us know that? Or maybe state something like "Its not likely we're going to release it today guys, but we're trying! Thanks!"

I wonder how long it'll take to have the update install.

 

The original message was that they were shooting for Saturday, maybe Friday. In both cases, it was implied to be a guess.

 

I think the concern is that they've been "shooting for" and "guessing" a fair number of things lately and never seem to hit any of them. I know things come up in coding but when you consistently miss self-established deadlines and whatnot it tends to foster doubt.

 

Well if its not going to happen i'd like to know the day of or something. That's just me though. I'm usually a patient guy. But there's too much fruitless waiting.

 

Right (and I say "right" loosely since all the "deadlines" are guesses at best), so when in doubt, don't publish it on the official blog.

They already said it wouldn't be today. Now if you're referring to Friday, that's silly because it was never expected to be released then. Not to mention, their Friday isn't the same as everyone else's.

 

I am quite happy about this announcement and am certainly not making one-word/image posts which is against the rules!

 

Whether you publish it on the blog or not, when you convey it to your fans they're going to take it seriously until they see that you never get it right.

 

Misreading what is said isn't the fault of the devs. The vocal minority freaks out. The rest are understanding

 

Where is the misreading, exactly? "Monday or so" came and went. "Next week" will soon be gone. "This weekend" is flying on by without any real indication we'll see the patch. "Hoping for friday" is gone and "Aiming for Saturday" will be gone in a few hours, in CF's time zone. There's no misreading when they actually name days of the week that come and go.

The vocal minority are trying to hold CF accountable.

 

I think you can admit at the very least that its a problem when they say something like that people will take it seriously and actually wait for it come, so an update the day of at the earliest convenience about whether it will hit today or not would be beneficial to fans and overall enthusiasm.

I appreciate you being the white knight for the sake of the developers but not saying anything and letting aggravation fester, as you can see on the forums, can be on the fault of the devs or the person in charge of keeping fans updated on the matter.

 

When they set a time or date, what time zone are they talking about. Tiy is from London, so I was wondering if he is going by that.
