I'm quite positive that it's all the same to us lol.
I mean, you guys act like you've never made a mistake. that's all this is. mistakes. now, think about that for a second. they're spending ALL WEEKEND getting this patch play-worthy - literally, like, 98% of their time - and you guys want an update?
you realize what the ensuing argument would be, right?

"well, thanks for the update guys but now it's taking you longer to give us patch why'd you waste your time on an update if it would delay patch detail?"

I, and I presume the other people sharing my general opinion, feel that chucklefish either are destroying or already have destroyed their own credibility. We're not saying they're war criminals, just that we're losing or have lost confidence in them. If we can't have confidence in them to keep dates how can we have confidence in them to make the game they tempted us with and hyped us up about?

So the solution is just "ignore the information you don't like?" That's crap, quite frankly.

Bartwe -was- doing a livestream last night. So we know he's working, at least. But it's still ridiculous to keep offering timeframes and then changing them, over and over. I'm with you, any job I've had, I couldn't get away with this. Yet everyone seems eager to give CF a blank check to do it as much as they want. There are no expectations whatsoever when it comes to indie devs, though I'll be damned if I can figure out why.

Companies are beholden to their customers if they want to succeed. Chucklefish is pretty lucky that most of theirs seem to expect nothing of them.

A PR guy may not improve the -game- but he can improve relations with the community. If PR wasn't a worthy investment no developer would ever even have a website.

Since a lot of people are dissatisfied, can they get their money back? So there is some responsibility on the other end. They can't just do what ever they want. Not saying they are, I know they are working hard on it. But there is expectation, at the very least for information.

I preordered over a year ago, honestly I was surprised when early access became available. We all want the patch, sure. But, a realistic expectation is a full release in something like a year. People that are rabid about updates right now are probably in for quite a ride.

As I said at the beginning of my post, I watched Bartwe working last night on his Twitch channel. I will agree though that the communication isn't very good. I only learned about it by chance.

I mostly agree with you here. Even though there were no hard dates given (i.e. We will be releasing update X on Y day at Z time) they have been giving us dates over and over. I would have preferred more conservative estimates from the start, so this wouldn't be as much as an issue.

you dont get it right? :D its ok if something goes wrong.. we know its under developement... its the fact they are playing with us thans to the fact they say we can play better after that point and push it since 2 weeks everytime away. wouldnt be much hate here if they would have been quiet about the patch. they made their own problems with calling out a time for the patch and dont make it to that time for the fourht time.

This isn't Kickstarter bro. They are legitimately selling a product. It's an incomplete product but it's still a product.

you realize that their fundraiser they had before the game was for the developers, right? to hire more artists and programmers, and also money to live on so they could devote all their time to the game.
in short, yes. it was for the developers.

That's right but this isn't a big company, it's a little indie team of 5 people (correct me, I have really no idea) who are developing SB. To let 17% of the staff handle PR is a little exaggerated in my opinion.

This is a video game company, making a video game, something that you play for entertainment, also known as a luxury. This is not the government. This is not some big corporation who is conspiring against everyone to make more money. They are doing something they have a passion for. They are comprised of only a handful of people, and they are doing an incredible job at it.

There were plenty of warnings: an incomplete game, plenty of patches, character wipes, early development, and delays. Everyone of you made the concious decision to back this game. And to play it knowing your stuff will be wiped. Which, again, is a luxury, not a requirement. Stop acting so entitled, they really can do whatever they want. They could discontinue the game tomorrow, cut development, and not give anyone money back. Just because you don't like something, doesn't make it a law of life.

People paid for access to something before it is finished. And all of you are still capable of playing it in it's current state. Get over yourselves.

Ten developers and as many "contributors," as easily found on the main website. So it would be more like 5% of the staff. A PR person would not go amiss, and good PR actually increases sales, as a rule. PR is an investment on their part.

They don't need PR. Just a short tweet/post about what's going on. Especially when they announce an anticipated patch.

I know startups who had one developer and one PR guy. I'd say around 30-40% of a company has to be QA and PR or you're looking at a lot of very unsatisfied customers. Especially if there's a lot of demand.

A little company (that made 10 mil in sales off this game) No reason they should be little anymore!
