Details On Ship Wipes?

Hey Guys, I'm a noob at wipes so I gotta ask, in a ship wipe, does everything in the ship get destroyed e.g chests?

 

i think that's why it's called a ship wipe.

 

I think what the OP is asking is if the ships are going to get wiped when they make them new, and I am absolutely curious as well. Considering there is also going to be a universe wipe at around the same time I don't know where is the safest area to store items. It would be nice if someone could confirm if moving our stuff to our planet is safer than keeping it in the ship for right now, considering what may get released first.

If that isn't what the OP is asking, then yeah, I have had my ships wiped several times just by playing on multiplayer. Everything is reset to the first moment you entered the ship, including having a matter manipulator in the ship locker.

 

sources for these statements? so far as i know, no impending wipes have been announced, ship or universe.

Well, if you're referring to what happened Feb 18-19, then looking at the news posts, the answer would be "during."

Of course, it's Beta, so stuff happens, which is why I have duplicate storage on both ship and planet. But from the mouths of CF, they aren't planning on wiping ships or players again, only the rest of the universe.

 

good for the illumination, if nothing else. CF has stated they will not purposly do the wipes, but sometimes, stuff happens.

i think doing away with wipes this early in the dev cycle was a huge mistake, only serving to empower the "entitled" crowd that was the cause of "no more ETAs".

 

No more wipes doesn't hinder anything on the devs side. They may not have to wipe to give us new ships, but if we want said ships, then we make a fresh character to get it. Still not a forced reset and they can do whatever they want.

No, you can just move all your stuff from your ship to a planet, then delete your ship file and you'll have a brand spanking new ship given to you with all the upgrades ready to buy, if the upgrades themselves aren't stored in the character file.

As the item listing format is fixed, there will be no wipe that deletes Character, Ship, and World alike. So if one is announced, you move all your stuff to one that isn't being wiped.
