Design a Race Contest

Yo Starbound devs! you guys should set up the next contest!

It would be sweet if you could have a contest that entails creating a playable race. if you were to do this we would have to come up with....

Background of the Race
Way of Life
Description (possible sprites here but that should not be the defining winner because some people are brilliant in story and description but not very good spriters)
Home Planet

We would just have to pretty much give a description much like the recent Avians update!

So Community, Devs... What do you think?

 

That would be very cool!
Contest submissions would take up a lot of time!
You would really need to make it a team contest.

Contests always gives the community something to do.

If there's any contests, official or unofficial, I'm willing to do it.

 

I love contests too. I am always wanting to put my Imigination to work. I think I am going to post a submission for this even though it isn't an official contest

 

Sure it would be cool but people would probably make some OP race... then there is the problem of everyone fitting their sprites to a certain blueprint (The character shape).
Then some people have already suggested races in the suggestions forum.

 

This would be something I would want to partake in since the last contest I missed. Now you got me thinking, hmmmmm.

 

I have this amazing idea locked up at my house with drawings, backstory & everything.
If I can't release it soon, I'm gonna go insane.

there is something called Devs that probably wont let the idea be OP. there will be pros and cons to each class.

On Topic~~I too have many ideas for this potential contest. i would love to see a dev post with some insight!

 

It gives the community something to do and I think it is generally a good idea the only thing I would say was that it would have to be a team competition and that it would probably have to be open for a long period of time.

 

My brain is amazing when it comes to Lore and back story... I could design my own race! :O (yes I'm from a different planet...)

Glad to see alot of people agree! Maybe we can get a Community Contest going or something and see if any Devs will catch on and sponsor this?

 

If I do not see a dragon race in this game, I will be dissapointed...

Yeah I like dragons and dude maybe you should try and start a conversation with a Dev or Admin about this they like hearing from members of the community and it could be a chance for other people to win some cool prizes.

 

I could enter and lose another contest!

I'm sure a few people have already started letting their minds wander on the subject and have been waiting for a chance like this.
People will have to be careful not to fall into the "typical alien" ruts, though...
Maybe people can start posting some of their ideas? I'd love to see what you guys have come up with so far.
