Couple of screenies I took of a derelict space station me and my GF have started building. I love the lighting in this game
If you mean the various bits used; yeah we're using a creative mode mod. We're just building for fun.
Wow, that looks awesome! Is it meant to have once been any specific faction, or just some miscellaneous space station?
Ahh, Mr. Novablast, always obsessed with USCM lore... Not like there is anything against it. Doesn't look like it has any faction theme for it, but I will let OP speak for himself.
Herself** But yeah, I had no faction in particular in mind when we started building. I guess based on design, it'd be either human or Apex, although if it was Apex, there's a rather big lack of big-brother-esque security and posters! Aside from that, we tried using less advanced-looking stuff to try and make it look old. ^^
That looks great. I would love to build with you guys some time. I can even provide screens of my builds for proof of (for lack of a better word) skill.
Actually, she is using a mod. Those blocks are vanilla, but you can't get them without modifying game files to give them to your character, so yeah. They can only be obtained with mods.
OH. sorry. haha.. I use the creative mode mod, so I assumed they were attainable through normal means.
No problem, I think only the crates and destroyed generators and those things are unobtainable. The big red crate is the only thing that I know is unobtainable, because someone told me that when I pulled one out on a server.
The generators are unobtainable as well, and I believe those red doors in the last picture (but they might be Rubium)
Nah those doors are something else than rubium; looks to be from a mine-themed set. There's a bunch of other similar stuff like mine chutes and bins and such. The vents, lockers and broken down tech are from a rusty broken down set which I'm unaware if there's an available dungeon for, the fences I think are also from the mine set. I love those red alert lights btw; they have a sound effect alarm tied to them that fades in/out based on how close to them you are, it's great for in-game atmosphere. It doesn't show up on screenshots though. Also, the elevator lights are a second type of those lights which flicker Most of the blocks are obtainable legit I believe, except maybe for those dark blueish girders with the rivets: those are likely from the Hylotl Ocean Cities set. The smooth metal and hightech metal block trim used for the walls are available right out of the basic crafting menu you get when you press "C" once you've unlocked the portable 3D printer. Also, the hardest part of all this was the wiring to get those 4 buttons to work with the airlock so that only one door could be open at a time. FFF. I'm half-decent at doing aesthetic builds, but I can't do logic circuits for shit. I should grab a screencap of the wiring at some point, it's a friggin' mess lol Thanks for offering, but this is mostly just something I do with my girlfriend. It's our couple's build time It's all part of the vanilla game; we just use a mod so we don't have to go scouring a bajillion planets and mine out dungeons for hours for blocks so we can build. Some objects and blocks are part of the gamefiles already but not currently available without mods though, like the Hylotl stuff. A good example is the roof tiles I used for this:
Asteroid field, actually. It's perfect for our purposes since we wanted to make it look like the station got hit with a few stray space rocks; so we're building through and around the asteroids, and in some areas I deliberately leave holes in the walls with chunks of asteroid blocks laying about.
Nice! I wish asteroid fields had no gravity, it'd make it a lot more interesting. It'd also give me an excuse to use my grappling hook
