Hi Devs! My name is Jacob, and I have an idea for a new planet type:
    "Derelict Metropolis"
"A planet, covered by a massive city. Supported by only imported food, the planet eventually starved."
<In Red> The planet suffers from Kessler Syndrome. An advanced shield is required</In Red>

The planet would require a ship upgrade that would give you debris shields. And while in orbit around the planet, you could see debris bounce off of the shield.

The planet would have a ruined city-scape background, and it would have mass graves, and many different ruined buildings, with crashed vehicles.*DEPENDING ON DIFFICULTY* The planet could be barren, or be inhabited by a Few bandits/ glitch pirates/bandit gangs/ reclaimed by Florans/ Reclaimed by Fungi. Or it could be completely barren and only have weapons etc.

If you like the idea readers hit this up! I would love to see this get implemented.

Devs, if you like the idea get back to me!

its funny how almost any suggetion seems modable to me. pity i dont have more time.

This seems like a big project for a modder but definetly do able (probebly not a good startingout mod)

Yeah, I was considering pitching it to a modder, or making it myself, but then I realized:
    1. I know no modders
    2. I barely know C++

I'm gonna d my best at making this mod though, and no power in the verse can stop me

You need approximately 0 experience with C++ to mod Starbound. All you need is a bit of patience and to learn proper JSON formatting and patching. Maybe some lua and spriting skills if you want to do more complex things.

starbound doesn't use c++ or any c for that matter or even java

a small amount json is needed for altering existing files and that's it. and their is a thread that thats you do that and a online tool aswell called https://json-schema-validator.herokuapp.com/

Oh no no no, my point was, I barely know c++ and I have to learn a new language

JSON syntax hardly qualifies as a language. It's really not that complicated. If you don't forget commas and remember to close your brackets you'll be fine.

Sticking to JSON only allows a fixed (if large) set of changes within existing mechanics. If you want to create new mechanics then you must use Lua.

You don't need to know lua to be able to create new planet types though.

I am currently creating a abandoned planet mod But i need ideas of what the buildings should look like so if you want please gimmie ideas

i understand these buildings can be huge skyscrapers because i am bulding them as dungeons that spawn really often.

I can even add in new blocks to the game so dont feel restricted by the current palett

Here's an image of a ruined city I found with a Google search, which sorta fits what I think such a planet should look like:

    Hope this helps!

They could be added to the unmodded game as a tier 7 planet biome. It could probabily have relatively few ores, but a lot of chests.
The enemies would use different parts for generation, as logically they would be very different from that of the other planets, as they would have to be more robotic, or smaller so that it wouldn´t be out of place in a city.

that works man and it's kinda the look I'm going for but if I can make something that looks that good translated to starbound's 2d style ill be very happy

but im also going for a slightly more futeristic style while still being run down
