    If I said that the Earth is round and that water is wet, would that also be immediately contradicted? I'm detecting a theme here.

    Oh I agree completely. But it was more the fact he was making the claim that there were NO fruitful developments, despite the reimaging of combat and food system, buffs, new biome, new enemies, how monsters act. Basically it can be argued that the whole game has been revamped since the last stable build. I mean that's only a handful that I've mentioned. Just going off the dev blogs alone you can see a huge improvement. I believe that's why everyone in this thread has been arguing with the person. You have to essentially bury your head in the ground and make an effort to ignore the fact that there is a lot of development that's occurred.

    Unless that moon is only 100 yards away, it shouldn't parallax like that.

    Agreeing with the guy above me. The moons and planets in the sky shouldn't parallax, they should move with the night/day cycle as the planet rotates. Or, maybe just be stationary.

    yeah, there is definitely something off about the parallax. Going up squishes the layers closer together, while they should spread.
    Imagine my background consists of a series of straight lines parallel with the horizon.
    if I am level with them, they should all overlap, like looking along a table.
    Moving up from there would cause the front to drop down quickest, and the further back a layer is the slower it drops. The spread between the front and back lines should take up more of my vision. Imagine you slowly stand up from looking along the table; the surface spreads out in your view.
    Say the back terrain layer has a mountain. If may only be 100 pixels high, but if its a kilometer high mountain, I should be able to move 10 meters up for each pixel it drops .
    Moving down from that equilibrium point will also spread out the lines, but the line in front will be at the top now. This means that is the area below that line is opaque, then it would be obscuring the other lines.

    What we see is the opposite, as he goes up the spread gets narrower, with the front layer moving up in relation to the other layers, not down.



    In addition, the back layer should technically be fixed to the screen, so the moons and such don't have motion as you move. However, stylistically it could still move, which would be handy for creating a sense of motion if you are flying around with nothing else visible.

    Considering that even the largest of planets in Starbound still pales in comparison to the actual Earth the parallax of moons doesn't seem too unreasonable. While that moon probably isn't a mere hundred yards away it might be as close as a hundred thousand.

    Check the nightly branch. You can see for yourself how it is doing. I don't get 100 MB - 300 MB updates every few days for balls and 5 new missions. It feels like Starbound 2 with all the new diverse content. Also, if you buy a game that is early access, don't get mad at the devs for taking their time. You don't rush art.

    They won't add killstreaks.
    They won't add the intervention either.
    It's 2-D, there will be no 360 no scoping.
    There also will be no kids trying to correct you for saying the Russian flag is red white and blue, and will insist it is red with a "Scythe and a war hammer" to symbolize the Russian Illuminati.


    I also have 177 hours in Starbound, if it was unplayable, I would not be a very smart man.

    I was going to post something about an inherent need of the denizens of the internet to be sarcastic and witty, but hey, who says I'm self aware?

    about the parallax thing, i think that the first layers should go up, but not that amount , just a slight movement because the first layer (aka: the world layer were you play) hide the background layers, so technically the parallax start on the playable area and goes to the background layers, and you see the moon on the background when he jumps is right as the higher you gets the further the horizon becomes, but maybe not on that ratio.

    basically they only need to fix the ground parallax and it would solve the moon weird thing~

    and as izzabelle said, stop feeding the troll guys, trolls need to me properly removed or caged and feed only from what they can get by themselves


    now devs, please at last make a Christmas special or a surprise stable relase :rofl:

    Now we just a thing that does just this, but flings you sideways so you can traverse a planet by horizontally bouncing your way along it.

    Depending on how the physics engine handles it, a midair dash boost while bouncy would do it.
