    Hello all!

As it stands, I don't really care about Pixels and to be frank, I think they should be removed, used for some sort of level system, or to keep strictly for higher tier tech/augments. Regardless of what they wish to do with Pixels at the moment, I'm finding that I don't really care if I lose them upon death, my items are where I'm concerned, and I think it would be nice if death cost you those items and forced you to track back your body to collect them back. It's done in a lot of games, but in my opinion works. Whether that's the way people are wanting to go or not, I do believe that adding a less compelling spin to death could open up doors and windows in the way of survival gameplay. For example, rather than jumping into an unknown planet, one could send out a reconnaissance droid and move it across the landscape to see what attacks him, what the environment/landscape is like (would recommend checking this threat out as it has great insights as to environmental hazards http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/hazardous-environment-liquids-weather.28373/) and maybe even for human players, all before jumping in head first and feeling however many pixels lighter for it and nothing else.

If anyone disagrees, please feel free to do so, though I would like your input as to why. I'll admit I haven't played the game for as long as most. Heck, I'm still on my first planet, but survival thus far is as difficult as death is punishing, and that is to say not very.

Thanks for reading. (And for contributing, if you do so. =])

This could cause some huge problems, but I'm too tired to list them all off, so I'll just say no.

Then I must say I'm not sure why you posted. Or at least just kept it at no, rather than justifying the lack of reasons. Is it difficulty? Exploitation? I don't doubt you have a good reason, but if you're not here to share it then it seems you could have saved some time by just glancing over and posting nothing.

What if you die in lava, how will you recover your items?

I haven't even encountered lava yet, so please correct me if the mechanics I'm working with are incorrect, but would you not still be able to lead lava away as you would water? Alternatively, were a suit capable of withstanding lava existed, that would be a cool addition to the game. As to whether thrown down items should be destroyed in lava, I'm not to sure. Frankly, I would be fine with just saying that I've f***ed up, and that's my punishment for such.

    To list one difference:
You say you don´t care too much for pixels.
You also say you are on your first planet.

this sounds to me like you haven´t got to the item tiers yet, where pixels really count.
In the later stages you surely will care more about losses in Pixels

That sounds about right, to be honest. But then I'm also not a fan of the Pixel system in general, which I did mention, and would much prefer it removed or altered. But then I suppose you're right that I can't have a great perspective on this without having a good appreciation of the the role pixels play in the game. I do know that I am currently underwhelmed by the possibility of death, which could be improved on in my opinion.

well first of all they would have to change the system, they make all items disappear if you don't pick them up right away.
in terraria, every thing that gets dropped, stays there forever until you save ad exit the world, in this, items vanish after like 30 seconds. so you can't really go back and get your stuff.

it could work if they did something like put a gravestone where you died and you had to go there and reclaim your stuff, but no, i don't want to lose all my items. in terraria they gave you 3 difficulty options, the easy mode you lost half your money but you could also stash it and protect it. or you had a medium mode where you dropped your items, or hardcore permadeth.

i agree there ought to something to motivate people to not want to die, but i dunno, 20% of your total pixels can be ALOT when you get into 20 - 100k pixels and higher. i was thinking of suggesting letting people bank the pixels but then they have to pay 10% to pull them back out. its still a penalty for keeping them safe but not as harsh as when you die

Having to travel back where you died is already punishment enough. You'll understand this when you'll get past tier 1.

Also there are a lot of annoying ways to die, this would be disproportionate punishment for those.
