Dead solar systems

We could find Imploding stars, and the Fallout from them.

 

"black holes" are the result of a star imploding on its self and they don't just "IMPLODE" its a random chance for it to be generated...

 

Well when you think about it we don't know how old they are (without stuff to tell us that) and we could propably make them more unstable by using artificial means

We do not know how old the universe of starbound is that is all there could be several dead solar systems that have been around for billions of years

I feel like we also should have dying solar systems. As someone mentioned, the death of a solar system is an extremely long process. However, since a solar system near death has some obvious characteristics, taht would be a neat environment to add. Would be a bunch of cold, lifeless planets, illuminated by a giant, red, but also weak star.

Here comes my question then, who wants to visit a dead solar system? We know that most of the planets are obliterated and mostly gone, so there would be no reason as to us discovering or going to it?

 

There could be lots of different effects of star death on a solar system, depending on the number of planets, their distance from the star, the number of stars (highest number of stars with a planet yet discovered is three stars), the size of those stars, and the size of those stars relative to each other... There are potentially endless combinations limited only by your imagination, and at least some of these dead solar systems will have dead planets such as what might happen to Earth once Sol is long-dead. Close planets will be engulfed by the dying star's expansion, further planets will be scoured of their atmosphere, and of life by the intense radiation emitted in the star's death throws as it turns into a white dwarf star, or if it's a binary system you could have an enormous supernova which destroys the solar system entirely leaving only a neutron star...

 

Let's have a bunch of planets orbiting black holes somehow! That's a great idea, said noone ever!

 

I do really hope something like this.
But i really dont like the idea of damaging spaceships it pretty much destroys the main thing in the game.

we know so far that we can terraform planets and make a homeworld right so i think of dead planets as a blank canvas i hope you do to.

 

I like this idea. I think that you shouldn't be able to get to these "dead solar systems" in the early tiers. Insterd the solar systems are coverd with like asteroids, that you cant pass through until you have a special upgrade on your ship like a super weapon. And this will make some more in depth things to explore in the game

 

Nah that wouldn't be much fun because it makes it feel like you'd need the same super weapon when you go into any solar system because normaly there is aloooot of astroids there and I'd like to be able to go there whenever I want not with the limitation of a must have item to let you go to another solar system in this case a dead one xD
