Okay, here's what grinds my gears: the new game content is awesome, and I enjoyed about 18 hours starbound in the past two days since the update - including the tedious and outdated "bring me this and fetch me that"-like quests. However, one thing brought this to a complete halt. I've been an avid ship designer over the past one and a half years, and wanted to re-create my original ships from back then. However, apparently which level your ship is and how it looks, is not stored in the .shipworld where it is supposed to be, but mainly defined in variables of quest progress inside the .metadata file. Now that makes ship modding and giving your modded ships to other players technically impossible, as the game will always fill the .shipworld data (apparently only the interior design and items) with the "missing parts" from your race and quest progress. Before the big update, it was no problem to customize your ship to your likings and upload them so others can enjoy them, too. Having only a linear progress and a set room layout feels just too limited to be enjoyable. I found out about this after I used this mod: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/buildable-shipworld-file-upbeat-giraffe.2494/ and having a look at how the player files work after the big update. Now that I am a player that is more on the creative side, the quests are all nice and stuff, but if they limit the freedom of editing your ship, I petition to get rid of them all together to restore the former state of "all ship data is stored in the .shipworld". Either that, or put all the ship defining data, including the exterior, in the ,shipworld. Where they belong in the first place. Sorry for the slightly aggressive tone, it just feels like they didnt think the new file structure thorugh and made a big leap backward. Addendum: the ship I used to have before the big patch:
