We know that there will be crafting in Starbound, as well as virtually infinite customization possibilities. You know that, to craft something, you need to have certain items or perhaps "pieces" of it to do so. To add even more options in terms of customization, what if we could customize the items we would use for crafting? For example, say you are crafting a pulse rifle, and one part that you need to use to craft it is a handle. But what if you want a stylized handle, with some kind of emblem or something of the sort on it? Well, then you would have to customize it. The basic idea of this would be that you could add modifiers to objects, but if you craft something out of modified items, it could possibly drastically alter the final product which is crafted. Then you used those objects for crafting so that you could have an even more customized item; or, if you already have a pre-made item, you could simply modify that with a modifier, which could be something as simple as a sticker. If you have any ideas, suggstions, comments, or concerns about this topic please let me know.:)

I really do like this idea but there are so many pre generated guns out there, so it could happen and I would very much like seeing it happen.

Thanks! Glad to see that you like the idea! :DD

Thank you for your feedback as well! :) Ya, I know that there are going to be probably hundreds of thousands of different combinations for weapons in Starbound. This would just be a way to expand to possibilities of customization, so that something you completely customized through something like this system can really feel like it's truly your own, special item.

Especially if you put a scratch-n'-sniff sticker on an item! :DD

I like the idea... Made me think of camoflauge pattern on a rifle. Although a emblem? Would require more pixels I think, or a pop-up window which shows you a higher resolution emblem connected to the item perhaps.

Thinking in the manner of pixels... Although maybe you are thinking differently? Would like to know lol :mwahaha:

I can imagining clans putting their logos on their things to make them stand out from the others.
This mechanic works, but it needs some more thought behind it.

Thank you both for your feedback!:)
That idea was kind of what I was going for, to add that option of having more individualism (I think that would be the right term) when it comes to creating your own stuff.
Well, due to the 3D rendering of the 2D sprites, I would assume that something like a large emblem could possibly could wrap around a smaller surface, but that's just my opinion.

Thank you both again for your feedback.

Like how it is in Little Big Planet, yeah I know what you mean... Well if it's possible then that would be pretty cool. :DD

Yes, how it works in Little Big Planet is a really good example of the wrapping-around idea. :) I mean, personally I also think it would be interesting if it did work that way.:DD
