I think we can all agree, when you're playing Terraria, EVERYONE is bound to look somewhat identical in multiplayer. Starbound seems to have a great opportunity to make each player look definitive. Each piece of armor/vanity could be customized in a way where certain parts of armor could be changed, except for certain parts of the armor. Since I'm horrible at explaining, here's a mediocre example of my sprite editing (With the hlelp of Paint.NET)to show what I mean. Notice how the armor to the right is more yellowish, but the gloves, shoulder pads, and belt aren't changed. But customization is not limited to just the color pallet, as long as if it is within the armor template, you could put in whatever pattern you'd like. How the menu interface would work is that you could change the pallet of the color, or you could do it manually on a Paint.NET like interface. I'm horrible at explanations, hope someone could understand this
Sure, why not, although I am not sure whether some dev didn't actually consider just painting the item upon crafting. It may have been decided against or I may be plain mistaken but I won't be shocked if there will be degree of customization as far as equipment goes, if even only as far as aesthetics go.
I have seen suggestions like these before and a main concern is outrageous and inappropriate armor, weapons and whatnot perhaps if there are templates like helmet 1,2,3 and then just draw within theperamaters of the twmplate like minecraft where you can make your own skin but not change the actual shape of the character itself.
Outrageous? Inappropriate? Pffft. We're talking about a sandbox game where you have the ability to build whatever you want. You can build things thousands time bigger than a character sprite, and in any shape you want I don't think it can get any more inappropriate than what you can do in Terraria or Minecraft.
Yes but a lot of people don't want to be in a space age world then all of a sudden a giant banana comes walking along.
