Disclaimer: I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but I did some searches and didn't find anything... Apologies if it's already been discussed... I think it would be a really neat idea to be able to customize the names of your weapons and/or equipment; Especially Since there are going to be a lot of randomly generated weapons and things (as far as I know) and I personally would hate to call my Plasma Revolver just ' Plasma Revolver ' , rather than 'Enrique, the Plasma powered Testicle Liberator' <(oohhh, ahhh) or what have you. Anyone else with me on this? I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting to have a little fun with Nick-Names on our favorite weapons!
Sounds great and it would add a personal touch to your weapons. And I like the Idea of Gravik to have a fee for renaming your weapons so you don't start to give every single weapon you find a silly name just because you can.
I hope it gets added officially - having to mod means it won't be seen online, which is half the fun!
Normally I'd be all for putting a fee on it, but in this situation, where its just giving it a nickname, I think just being able to re-name it anytime anywhere makes a bit more sense and helps avoid the hassle of getting the raw materials to craft name tags for every piece of gear. But good idea still =o
Actually, if a server uses the mod, it'd show up online. But that's probably digression. Off to confuse someone else!
I think it would be much more interesting if you would only pick the name, and the title would normally be given by the program depending on the weapons properties. I would make me happier when I get "DragonBlade, sharp as Valerian shark's teeth" if I had to work for it. Also it could be a reward for certain acts of fame such as defeating the intergalactic dragon. In general I think that a mixture of freedom (giving the name) and hard work (getting the title) is the best approach to motivate the use of such a feature and preserve interest over time. Also I would so very much like to hear an NPC kid saying: "Wow... Isn't it the legendary DragonBlade, that you are holding? I head it is sharp as Valerian shark's teeth. Can I please hold it?" Or find a note with the history of DragonBlade and how it got its nickname.
I could be done like in Parallel kingdom, where you use platinum to inscribe the name of your weapon. It could also display kill stats or total dmg dealt etc.
Abso-floggin'-lutely. This would add so much immersion, with so little effort. "My sword shall be Avalon; my rifle, Centurion. I shall call them by Name, and their names shall be heard in the Dark Places- in places of Fear, and places of Respect." Yes... I like this idea!

The only problem I see is if someone makes weapons with names of other weapons, just to pawn them off. Like calling the rusty sword 'Excalibur' then selling it to an unsuspecting player. There would be a lot of rage... Otherwise I would love it.
Of course, you can still see the stats of a weapon while you mouse over it, and it would still look like a rusty sword.
Yeah, if people don't look at what they're being given, that's a pretty realistic situation if you ask me. When you buy something in real life, its always good to inspect it first! Its like making sure not to buy a "Bolex" watch
