I'm in the process of making a new species. After using the Felin mod as a basic guide, I went to change the character screen to properly fit on two new races. It looks okay for now, and I have a character button for my in progress race using the elf icons already there. They switch between male and female when gender is changed, however, when you go to click the new races button, nothing happens - it goes back to select human. The selection curson won't actually go over the new button at all. I am unsure what to change, nothing jumps out of me - any suggestions?
I had trouble with this as well. I believe I fixed it by copying another species' files (.species and.config) and renaming it to the name of my species in the folder. Then you need to change the corresponding info (i.e. "kind" and "index") in the files to match the new species. Let me know if that solved your issue. It took a while and a lot of trial and error but I have mine working correctly now.
