Curious about which single characters are popular amongst which demographics

Mine is one of two people. Either it's Jack Of Shades (sage and wizard). Or its my money making tycoon. None of which are like me. I tend to play games where I can make my character anything I want. I don't much care for myself and find myself rather dull and boring. So I choose to be someone else entirely through the game. so much fun!

 

I had to look up videos of most of them to satisfy my curiosity (I've only seen two in game as well). Even though the NPCs don't seem to care how many people you're dating, I'd feel weirdly guilty about giving bouquets to people I have no intention of marrying. (Not that I'm opposed to non-monogamous relationships if consented to by all, but because of the way the game works, I'd personally end up feeling like I'm leading people on.) Some of them also ask you straight up if you're serious about them or not, and there's potentially no good way out of that.

Aww. I don't dislike myself, but... if I were really playing myself, I would barricade my door and never meet a single person in this town even after living there for years. So I can understand where you're coming from.

 

^ Same, to both of those sentiments. lol I tend to stay hidden away in my room or if I go out, I do so mostly by myself, so the likelihood that I'd be out getting to know all the villagers is pretty slim. I wouldn't turn down an offer for hanging out but I most likely wouldn't be the one to make the first move either.
And I do feel bad leading them on, which is why I've never experienced the 10-heart scenes myself (watched them on YouTube, yes, but never in my own games). The character I'll be using is more of a flirt than I could ever dream of being though and I think it sorta fits her character to charm everyone before choosing one. So just this once, I'll break some hearts. >u<

 

I always play as myself in games with character customization, because I love making the avatar look like me and picking all the dialouge options I would actually pick.

Do you guys have any single characters that you dislike?

 

I'm not very fond of Haley, she seems like Regina George reincarnated into an adult (using this term very loosely).

 

I really don't like Lewis. He comes off pretentious and really irks me.

 

Yeah, same. I'd like to hang out with some of these people, but I'd probably never get past that whole "needing to meet people before you can know them" thing.

I don't hate any of the singles, but I'm not interested in marrying most of them. These are my personal reasons:

Alex: Like his story, don't like his sexism that does not seem to improve over time. (If not for that, he might be on my pro-list, because I've heard he's a cute husband.)
Elliott: Too grandiose in his romanticism and overall not my type.
Emily: All the talk about energy is just not my jam, and also, my real name is Emily, so... lol.
Haley: Despite her good development, I don't like snobs, and she's 0% my type anyway.
Harvey: Doctors drive me up a wall because they can never seem to turn off Medic Mode, and some of his lines about Maru creep me out.
Maru: I like that she's into science, but she's not battling enough inner demons for my taste, lol.
Penny: I feel like she's asking to be saved, which is not why I'd want to be in a relationship with someone (and she would be sad that my kids are modded into birds anyway).
Sam: I like how seriously he takes his big brother role, but he's way too immature for me in virtually every other way.

There's also something that really bothers me with a few heart events where you have to lie if you don't want to lose relationship points. I don't like lying and definitely don't like it being part of some foundational moments of a relationship.

That said, I always become friends with everybody, and they're fine in that capacity.

 

That's how I am. I can be social as hell. I just don't want to. I don't make friendships that last ages easily. I can befriend nearly anyone and talk about anything like it's nothing at all. I just have an introverted perspective on the world around me. I'd prefer only talking to my girlfriend or brother, close people, rather than having a bunch of meaningless friendships that may end more often than not. That's just my outlook on it. I used to be socialable and have a large group of friends. But I didn't feel as though I could confide in them as much as my better, and closer, friends. Anyway, totally agree. Lol

 

Which heart events are you talking about? The only one I can think of is Maru's two heart event, where you lose relationship points if you say that Demetrius is being weird.

 

I guess I should put this all in spoilers...

Maru, 2 hearts: That's the one with Demetrius, and you lose 100 points for telling her. I think her dad should lose 100 points with her, but hey.
Maru, 8 hearts: You get an electric shock but lose 50 points if you say that it hurts. (The 'bad' option comes off as unnecessarily harsh, though. It would be nice to have a neutral honest option.)

Penny, 6 hearts: Lying gains 50 points, one honest answer loses 50, and the other has no effect.
Some of Penny's stuff is YMMV as to whether it's lying to her (especially depending on how you feel about kids), but she takes everything so personally that it can be hard to tell her the truth sometimes. If you say that you don't like kids (8 hearts) or don't feel the same way about her (10 hearts), you lose 1500 points. I think it's reasonable to lose more points than usual on those two things, but that's a massive six hearts.

Sam, 4 hearts: He drops the egg by accident, but if you tell Jodi that, you lose 10 points with Sam. You gain 50 if you lie and say that you dropped it, and he lets you take the fall for it.

It's interesting how some of the NPCs are extremely sensitive about what you say and others aren't bothered. Penny is the most sensitive and Alex seems to be the least. Unless the wiki is wrong, even being straight up mean to Alex doesn't affect relationship points a lot of the time.

 

I'm male, 30, heterosexual. My favorite is Haley because she's the most physically attractive.

 

Honestly, same.....maybe 1 or 2 people though. I like my friends but I am extremely socialphobic, I hate seeing people I know in a store or something. Awkward. >.<

Growing up, my school wasn't very kind to me so I learned to be somewhat introverted, even though I hate being alone for extended periods. I feel sad when I'm home alone a lot tbh...My high school experience was nice though since I went to a selective school.

 

I'm a lesbian, and Abby is totally my favorite. I've literally... never married anyone else across five different playthroughs. I mean, I can see things to like about other characters, but Abby just strikes me as very nearly the perfect girl for me. She's a gamer, she's a bit on the dark side, she's physically active and interested in martial arts... we are so compatible it almost feels like she was made specifically for me to like.

 

I am male, heterosexual, 29 years old. I go for Haley because I feel like she becomes a better person as she gets to know you. I'm still relatively inexperienced with the game (I'm about to reach Winter, year 2 with my second farm) but Haley seems to develop into a more conscientious and nice person. You help others gain their confidence or achieve something they've wanted to accomplish as you get to know them, but with Haley it feels like a dynamic personality shift.

I've got both Leah and Haley in the stage where I could marry either one of them... but I can't do it because I don't want to upset the one I don't....

EDIT: I know they won't ACTUALLY be upset. This is just me projecting onto the game.

 

As a nerdy young straight male i preffered Maru because I preffered a nerd (Maru) over a geek (Abi)

 

Demetrius. Between the way he always think about his work and discriminate between maru and sebastian, he is just a baf parent

 

Ugh, I know what you mean about seeing people in public! The worst was running into students back when I worked at a school. Horrifying, lol. (I'm not quite as reclusive as I joke about being, but I'm a lot like Seb in that more people = more draining/stressful, and some days are No Good for being around anybody.)

I was kinda... Abby-like in high school, lol. An unsavoury blend of Shane and Abby. I guess that's why I gravitate toward her among the bachelorettes--she reminds me of my old crew of punks, outcasts, and spooky kids. But I've always felt alienated, like I'm on the periphery of everyone else's life. I project that feeling onto Abby because she only appears to have one friend (who's as much the odd one out as she is) and sometimes Seb seems to forget that they're friends. I feel for people who are isolated because they're different and refuse to exchange who they are for an easier social existence.

 

I'm old and I'm in the UK, I'm hope that is enough.

As for the Valley. Still trying to decide if it is the diet that decides the partner or the partner that decides the diet. Weird huh? just trying to think of the next play through. Seeing where the decisions and game takes me, recipes, bumping into people.

In the past I have enjoying keeping goats, but growing pumpkins and collecting rocks has been great.

 

female, aromantic and heteromantic (it's pretty much grey in between), if I say romantically interested between the singles most would be Sebastian, he is my favourite, I also relate with him the most ( then after is Abigail, Linus and Shane), even familial environment is almost the same as Sebastian (specially him) and Abigail.

For me it's normally between Harvey and Shane. Harvey was my husband on my first complete game and I'm working on Shane on my current one lol.

Sam and Sebastian are too young and immature, Alex rubs me up the wrong way with his sexist attitude and Elliot's just a little poetic and grandiose for my liking.
