Wouldn't be interesting if we could find structures made by another players? I'm not talking about visiting a friend's house in a multiplayer game, but what if the game could take structures made by players and add them to some sort of database, so that those structures could appear in any other game of any other player? We as players are generating this kind of content: we build huts, mansions, bunkers, towers...If the game could use that content as procedural material...that would be awesome. It would add a huge amount of variety! Of course, that seems pretty difficult to do...But I'm dreaming a little
It's a great idea, but I think that would be better if this had some filters. If not the quality of the designs could be lower. Anyway, I don't know if you are telling to send structures to devs so that they add in the game. Or that it was the game for itself that it implements these structures procedurally on the planets.
This is kind of a problem it would be too hard to implement. So i really dont think could be added...
It would work similarly to how it works now. If the game has a flag on tiles saying if they were placed by a player the game could scan them when you go into a server and load a world with a player built structure on it. It then saves the structure data to a location in your install directory and when you are loading a new world there is a chance that it will generate one of those structures based on world conditions. The main problem is what aiken said, quality control for said structures.
Yeah i know but what after 2 years of the game the whole place will have nothing left and remember then mines holes and ores will be gone
The main difficulty would be stablishing where the building starts and where ends the landscape, I think.
I'm confused as to the relevance of that. These would only be added to worlds that are being made for the first time and structures would be stored locally by players (singleplayer) or servers (multiplayer). Plus, this is for structures that players build, so it doesn't have anything to do with how many resources are mined on a planet.
